Sara Pinto Sampaio (born 21 July 1991) is a Portuguese model and actress.
She is best known for her role as a Victoria's Secret Angel, Giorgio Armani beauty ambassador, and Calzedonia's first appearance in the 2014 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, first for a Portuguese model. In 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2019 for Best Female Model.
Early life
Sampaio grew up in Porto's outskirts. Sampaio attended the University of Lisbon after finishing high school.
Personal life
Sampaio addresses being photographed nude in Vogue interviews. Her modelling is regarded as a form of artistic expression, as well as nudity empowering. "We were born naked at the end of the day, and that's the way we're going to go," Sara said in the interview. When she requested that her contract include a no nullity clause, she accused Lui magazine of sexual assault and coercioning her into posing nude for their cover. No matter what shape or size, she believes that everyone should feel at ease in their own skin. Career
Sampaio was first discovered at the age of 15, but she was not allowed to participate in modeling competitions until the age of 16. Cabelos Pantene 2007, a hair modeling competition in Portugal, was won by the 16-year-old winner. She worked in a Portugal commercial after the competition. She was then signed to an agency, but her parents pushed her to complete high school before becoming a professional model.
Sampaio's aspiration was to work with Victoria's Secret. She was invited to audition after her agency sent in headshots. However, she did not make it into the Fashion Show, despite that. She continued to pursue the runway and made her debut in the 2013 Victoria's Secret Fashion Exhibition, where she walked in one segment. She walked in two segments during her sophomore appearance in 2014. In 2015, she was selected as one of the newest Angels on the runway, and in December of the same year, she walked for the brand for the first time as an Angel. Sara will appear alongside the other Angels in the 2016 Fashion Show in Paris, France, on October 24, 2016.
She has been prominently in television ads for Axe body spray in the United States. She was selected for the cover of Portuguese Vogue's April 2012 issue and to be the face of Calzedonia Mar, 2012. Raphael Mazzucco's photographs were shot by her in Greece and Jamaica. She appeared in Calzedonia again in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
