Early life and education
Sandra Brown was born in Waco, Texas, and raised in Fort Worth. She majored in English at Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, but she left college in 1968 to marry Michael Brown, a former television news anchor and award-winning documentarian, for Dust to Dust. Ryan, the couple's son, has one brother.
Career
Brown began working in Tyler as a weathercaster before returning to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex area, where she became a reporter for WFAA-TV's version of PM Magazine.
Brown began writing in 1981 after her husband dared her to do so. Since then, she has written more than 70 books and had more than 50 New York Times bestsellers. She was awarded an honorary doctorate of humane letters from her alma mater, TCU, in 2008.
French Silk's book, which was released in 1994, was turned into a television show. Susan Lucci, Shari Belafonte, and Lee Horsley appeared in the film. Sandra Brown's White Hot was made into a Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Original film in 2016.
