Sanam Puri Career

Musical career

Venky and Samar were classmates in Indian School, Muscat, 2003; both of them played guitar and planned to form a band, but they convinced Samar's younger brother, Sanam Puri, to join as a singer. After finishing school, the foursome migrated to India for college. Sanam & Samar migrated to Delhi and became active in the college rock bands. Sanam Puri began receiving accolades for his singing, and Samar Puri began writing songs. Venky, who lives in Bangalore, started playing bass with a variety of bands. He sang a cappella in college and began playing swing/jazz and pop standards at clubs. Venky met Keshav (who was a drummer with bands like Nerverek) through the college rock circuit and formed 'The Next Band,' a new rock band. Venky used to fly to Chennai (where the band was based) to write songs, rehearse, and perform with them. Two band members were off to M.I. in Los Angeles for music instruction, and another member went to SAE in Byron Bay. Hence, the 'The Previous Band' came to an end. Samar and Sanam immigrated to Mumbai in 2009 to pursue a musical career. Keshav also worked with Furtados as their brand manager for Zildjian, Evans, and Pearl drums. Venky and the three of them hooked up in Keshav's garage, where they started writing together. Times Music launched a national pop band hunt in India in May 2010. Samar Keshav & Sanam entered randomly under the heading The SQS Project. Over 1600 bands from around India took part in the competition. Venky was a participant in the final round, and the SQS Project received the honor of 'Times Music Supastars,' and this is how the journey began. The band's name is 'SQS Supastars.'

Supastars, the band's first self-titled album, was released, and "Behka" and "Behka" followed later in music videos. The album's mixing and mastering of the project was showcased by several leading Swedish and Danish music labels. In their second music video "Behka," the band also supported the 'Mufti' clothing collection.

Ben Thomas (managing director, Kurian & Co Talent Management, and a respected music business manager who had worked with top musicians, including Sonu Nigam and Vishal-Shekhar), paved the way for the band's success in 2012.

He also introduced the band to Vishal-Shekhar, which culminated in Sanam Puri's first Bollywood break as a playback singer, with songs including "Dhat Teri Ki" from the film Gori Tere Pyaar Mein and "Ishq Bulaava" from Hasee Toh Phasee. The band's first original composition for The Amazing Spider-Man 2's blockbuster in the same year as its first original composition "Main Hoon" was released.

Given the band's digital growth in 2015, they were invited to perform at the YouTube FanFest. In 2016, the band was revived in 2016.

The band appeared at the VMY Music Festival in July 2015, which commemorated the Republic of Maldives' 50th Anniversary of Independence. On January 24, the Ballard Estate Festival in Mumbai was officially opened by chief guest Nitin Gadkari, Minister Of Road Transport and Highways Of India, followed by the Sanam band's headlining appearance. Hema Malini, an actress and politician, attended the soirée.

In 2016, as part of a digital musical project starring YouTube's top musical talent with four music composers A R Rahman, Salim-Sulaiman, Clinton Cerejo, and Mithoon, "Inquilab Mera Khwab" was announced in collaboration with Clinton Cerejo and all the other Artists who were part of the project in collaboration with A R Rahman, Salim–Sulaiman, Clinton Cerejo, and Mithoon

Channel V, the music broadcaster, revealed the launch of On Friday, the first edition of "Only On V" with a special partnership with band Sanam. The band aims to spread love and joy through their music and considers this opportunity to be one of the band's finest accomplishments. Their support for eBay's online shopping behemoth and its #NoWorldWithWomen campaign received a positive response. In collaboration with a Chennai-based NGO Justice & Hope, the band held a series of concerts as part of Pledge Tour, with the intention of not only giving the audience a great time but also raising the issue of growing instances of Child Sexual Abuse in India.

Sanam was named Artist of the Month on MTV Beats in February 2018 for its latest film "Sanam Mennu." MTV Beats the 24x7 Hindi Music TV Channel, a network of specially selected shows under the banner of Month of passion, the SANAM Band appeared in three of its shows.
