Samuel Peter Acosta Larsen (born August 28, 1991) is an American actor and singer.
Larsen won the reality competition The Glee Project on the Oxygen network on August 21, 2011, resulting in him appearing on Fox television show Glee as Joe Hart.
Larsen was also a member of Bridges I Burn, and he's debuting his solo career in October 27, 2014.
Life and career
Larsen was born in San Francisco, to Henrik and Lupe Acosta Larsen. His father is from Denmark and his mother is from Mexico. Larsen has two brothers, Manolo Acosta, and Morgan, a younger sister. Larsen played drums, bass, guitar, and keyboards as a young child. In 2009, he graduated from Murrieta Valley High School. He became a vocalist and guitarist of the school band 15 North in his sophomore year, and the band appeared in festivals.
Larsen auditioned for season 9 of American Idol in 2010, but was disqualified after making it to Hollywood and failing to make it to the semi-finals. After doing some runway modeling for fashion designer Ashton Michael, he met skip Arnold during a runway preview and applied to The Glee Project in Los Angeles. Larsen and Skip Arnold formed the band "Bridges I Burn" in the meantime, and Salvatore Spinelli, a third member, joined them shortly. Larsen writes and performs the majority of his music. In 2017–2018, he spent some time in the rock band Palaye Royale. He auditioned for Sam Evans on Glee but was unable to be cast, so Chord Overstreet took the role.
Joe Hart, a former home-schooled Christian, made his first Glee appearance on the thirteenth episode of the third season, titled "Heart." He appeared in two songs, "Step Class Heroes" by Gym Class Heroes, and a mashup of The Association's "Cherish" and Madonna's "Cherish." Despite winning the Glee Project for seven episodes, he appeared in all of the final ten episodes of Glee's third season. In addition,, he appeared as a mentor for The Glee Project's second season and appeared twice in the final season. In the film version of Anna Todd's best-selling book After, Larsen was cast as Zed Evans in July 2018. The film was released on April 12, 2019. Larsen appears in its 2020 sequel After We Collided.
