Sam Lewis Underwood (born 4 August 1987) is an English-American actor who portrayed Luke and Mark Gray in the Fox thriller film The Following and Jake Otto in AMC's Fear the Walking Dead (2016).

Early life and education

Underwood was born in Woking, Surrey, and attended the Winston Churchill School. He studied at the Karen Clarke Theatre Group (now Summerscales Performing Arts), was directed by vocal coach Phil Wisdom and attended Songtime Theatre Arts.

In October 2006, he came to the United States and studied at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York. He graduated in February 2008.

In April 2010, he co-founded the Fundamental Theater Project in New York with Nicola Murphy.

Personal life

Valorie Curry, a child of Underwood, married actress Valorie Curry in July 2016.

Underwood was invited to appear in George Bernard Shaw's Candidate in April 2010 at the Irish Repertory Theatre, New York, co-starring Alec Baldwin.

In 2013, Underwood appeared in the eighth season of television series Dexter Morgan in the recurring role of Zach Hamilton, Dexter Morgan's "protégé." Leo Carras appeared in Homeland's third season as Leo Carras.

In the second season of the Fox murder mystery The Following, beginning in February 2014, Underwood played twins Mark and Luke Gray. However, in its third and final season after Luke's death, he was left playing Mark, who had split identities.

In its third season, Underwood appeared as Jake Otto, the enigmatic son of the colony's leader.

Underwood appeared in The CW television series Dynasty, a revival of the 1980s series of the same name, in 2019.
