Sabrina Le Beauf Life

Sabrina Le Beauf (born March 21, 1958) is an American actress best known for her portrayal of Sondra Huxtable on the television situation comedy The Cosby Show.

Norma Bindlebeep appears on the Nick at Nite animated series Fatherhood, which is based on Bill Cosby's book of the same name.

Early life

Sabrina was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on March 21, 1958. Eager to get out of 1950s Louisiana's strictly segregated life, her family migrated to Los Angeles, California, right after her birth. Sabrina's parents divorced, and she and her maternal grandmother, Sce Ethel Holmes, remained in south central LA until her mother's remarriage. In Inglewood, California, Sabrina was 10 years old and found her mother and stepfather. Acting was a passion for her from a young age, and she appeared in numerous school plays, including Cinderella in elementary school. Sabrina has also served in leadership roles, including high school president at St. Matthias Catholic Girls High School and a Girls' State delegate.

Sabrina studied at UCLA, receiving her undergraduate degree in theater after high school. She became ill by the lack of parts offered to African American students during her time at UCLA, and in response, a black student drama club was formed to encourage them to perform their own shows. She began graduate studies at Yale School of Drama in September 1980, where she obtained her master's degree in acting.

Personal life

Le Beauf first met businessman and producer Michael Reynolds in 1987 while performing at the Folger Theater in Washington. They married in New York less than a month later, settling in New York. They were married for more than ten years, but Le Beauf described divorce in 1997 as "a collaborative decision."

Sabrina Le Beauf Career

Career

On The Cosby Show in 1984, Le Beauf auditioned for the role of the oldest Huxtable daughter Sondra. She was 26 years old at the time of her audition, but she was still young to play one of the children, being only ten years older than Phylicia Rashad, the actress who appeared her mother, Clair Huxtable. Whitney Houston, a pop star, also auditioned for the same role, but she declined to sign the deal because she also aspired to be a singer. Le Beauf's refusal to sign a film that will bind her to the show and put a singing career on hold forced the producers to part with her. Sabrina performed Sondra Huxtable on eight seasons of The Cosby Show from 1984 to 1992. Sondra, a Princeton alumnus who went on to marry and start a family of her own, was a popular character on the show; in 1988, 50 million viewers tuned in to watch Sondra give birth to twins named Winnie and Nelson in honor of Nelson and Winnie Mandela.

Le Beauf appeared in the television series Hotel and the TV show Making a Case for Murder during her time on The Cosby Show. Ensign Giusti made brief appearances on two episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation and on the comedy The Sinbad Show, as well as a short series. Le Beauf continued her theater career by playing Rosalind in a revival of Shakespeare's "As You Like It."

Le Beauf is a regular leading lady with the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C., and recently appeared Katherine in The Taming of the Shrew for the Company in Washington, D.C. Le Beauf appeared in the off-Broadway play "Love, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE" from 2009 to 2012.
