Personal life

Andrea (Elvey) and Webb Redmond, a former marine and police officer, were born and raised in Alpharetta and Cumming, Georgia. Her parents are divorced, both of whom have remarried, and she has 6 siblings and a step brother. She attended South Forsyth High School, where she was active in theatre. In 2006, she received a Breakthrough Performance Award at the Georgia One-Act competition. She studied musical theatre in the CAP21 program at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts on a full scholarship, but she left college after being cast in Bring It On: The Musical.

Career

Redmond appeared in the Elizabeth Swados musical Alice at the Palace in 2010. Meryl Streep had appeared in the first Off-Broadway production. She appeared in Swados' musical Book Cook!, receiving raves. Redmond continued to attend Broadway Dreams Foundation lectures, and when she appeared at a NY Benefit, Bernie Telsey admired her talents and begged for Bridget in Bring It On: The Musical. Redmond was hired and was involved in the initial reading, World Premiere in Atlanta, and the National Tour through the United States and Canada.

She made her Broadway debut in Bring It On: The Musical, which opened in August 1, 2012 and closed December 30, 2012. The musical was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Musical. Redmond was nominated for various honors, including Best Featured Performer in a Musical by the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle, when she was on tour with the show. She appeared in If/Then, a Broadway performance starring Idina Menzel in 2014.

Redmond appeared in Gigantic's Off-Broadway production, which premiered on December 3, 2015.

Redmond will play Olaf in the Broadway production of Frozen as of February 19, 2019, according to the firm's January 15, 2019. She is the first female to play the role. However, all Broadway theatres were shut on March 12, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After the lockdown was lifted, Disney later revealed that Frozen would not reopen.
