Ryan Stiles Life

Ryan Lee Stiles (born April 22, 1959) is an American-Canadian actor, comedian, and producer whose work is often associated with improvisational comedy.

He is best known for his work on the American and British versions of Whose Line Is It Anyway?, and the role of Lewis Kiniski on The Drew Carey Show.

He also played Herb Melnick on the CBS comedy Two and a Half Men and was a performer on the show Drew Carey's Improv-A-Ganza.

Personal life

In 1981, Stiles met Patricia McDonald at Punchlines where she was a waitress. They married in 1988. They have three children: Sam, Mackenzie, and Claire. When not working, he lives at his home on Lake Samish, outside Bellingham, Washington, where he opened the Upfront Theatre, a small theatre dedicated to live improv comedy.

Early life and career

Ryan Stiles, the youngest of five children, was born in Seattle to Canadian parents Irene and Sonny Stiles. He grew up with his mother, a homemaker, and his father, a supervisor at a Vancouver-based Canadian fish processing plant. When he was ten years old, his family moved to Vancouver, British Columbia. Ryan Stiles was born in R.C. and came from R.C. In Richmond, British Columbia, Palmer Junior Secondary School and Richmond Senior Secondary School are both located. Stiles has admitted that "being a high-school senior afforded [him] too much autonomy." He was so carried away by his flexible schedule that at the age of 17, he canceled school a few months before graduation.

Despite his parents' objections, he was able to continue doing stand-up routines at clubs near his house in Vancouver. Rich Elwood helped start Punchlines Comedy Club. He appeared on CTV and was the host of Comedy College during this period. Stiles appeared on "No Name Player" in the Vancouver Theatresports League and Punchlines before joining the Second City comedy troupe at Expo 86. He appeared in Toronto and then in Los Angeles.

Career

Stiles had captured the attention of the makers of the British improvisational comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway? by 1989. Stiles appeared on the program from the beginning of 1998 until its conclusion. His success on the show earned him both critical praise and a dedicated fan base in the United Kingdom. Stiles was asked by American comedian Drew Carey to be a regular on his comedy The Drew Carey Show in 1995. Stiles portrayed Carey's erudite but underachieving best friend, Lewis Kiniski.

Carey campaigned for ABC to produce an American version of Whose Line Is It Anyway? in 1998, Carey successfully lobbyed ABC to produce an American version of Whose Line Is It Anyway? The American version premiered after the British version's final season in 1998, with Stiles and Carey credited as executive producers. Stiles received a nomination for Outstanding Individual Achievement in a Variety or Music Program in 2002 for his contributions to the program. Stiles' flashy dress shoes are a running gag on the show.

Stiles (along with Kaitlin Olson) appeared in the taping of Drew Carey's unaired pilot episode, which featured improv games similar to Whose Line, despite the fact that he never appeared in the series. Games were played in front of a massive green screen. Animation was later added to the improvised video.

Stiles were first seen in the 1991 film Hot Shots! In its 1993 sequel, Hot Shots, Mailman Farnham and Robert Hood appeared. As marine Rabinowitz, Part Deux of the series "Marinowitz" appears. Dr. Herb Melnick, a recurring character on Two and a Half Men from 2004 to 2015. Parker Lewis Can't Lose, Murphy Brown, Mad About You, Mad TV, and Dharma & Greg were all guest appearances on Parker Lewis Can't Lose, Murphy Brown, Mad About You, Mad TV, and Dharma & Greg. He appeared on Reno 911 in July 2008. Sergeant Clift, an acting coach, is the head coach.

Stiles appeared in several Nike commercials during the 1994 Major League Baseball strike, playing the organ and trying to do the wave alone. "Play ball," the commercials announced. "Please, please."

Stiles appeared in the mockumentary Conker: Celebrity Squirrel's 2005 debut in the Xbox video game Conker: Live & Reloaded. Due to his participation in the 2015 class of the DK Vine Hall of Fame, gamers were voted inducting him into the DK Vine Hall of Fame.
