NHL: In the Xth game in NHL history, Florida stuns Carolina

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 19, 2023
The Carolina Hurricanes had their hopes, but they lost the franchise's longest game in franchise history when Florida Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk scored the tie-breaker in quadruple overtime. Florida thought they had won the game in the first overtime, but Ryan Lomberg's apparent goal was overturned due to a contentious goalie-interference call by the Panthers' Colin White. Even as Panthers netminder Sergei Bobrovsky was trapped out of place, there were other chances, such as Sebastian Aho's shot off the wall in the early stages of the fourth overtime. Jesper Fast whiffed in front of the net on a sure-be game winner minutes later during a Carolina power play. A deflected Aaron Ekblad shot ricocheted off the crossbar late in the fourth, but the Hurricanes' net was unable to locate the back of the Hurricane's net.

NHL PLAYOFF ROUNDUP: Panthers SHOCK top-seeded Bruins with four third-period goals

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 20, 2023
The top-seeded Bruins instead tried to beat Florida players with their fists at the end of their 6-3 loss in Boston on Wednesday night, failing to beat the Panthers in rules. The surprising result ended their first-round series at 1-1, igniting tensions between the Panthers and the heavily favored Bruins, who suffered a third-period defeat on Wednesday while yielding four goals in the frame. As Bruins fans marched away from the exits in the game's waning moments, Boston's Trent Frederic was seen tangling with Florida's Ryan Lomberg in other fights. Brandon Montour broke a 2-2 tie in the third period, Carter Verhaeghe scored another for Florida, and Eetu Luostarinen added an empty netter for second, making it 6-2.
