Ryan Matthew Dunn (June 11, 1977 – June 20, 2011) was an American stunt performer, comedian, writer, and guitarist, as well as one of the MTV reality stunt show Jackass' stars. Dunn became well-known in the late 1990s as a member of the CKY Crew with his longtime friend, Bam Margera, for their dramatic stunts and pranks that culminated in the rise of Jackass.
Dunn has produced Homewrecker and Proving Ground, as well as in Margera's films Haggard and Minghags.
Dunn was killed in a car accident in 2011.
Early life
Dunn was born in Medina, Ohio. He grew up in Williamsville, New York, before moving to West Chester, Pennsylvania, where he met fellow Jackass star Bam Margera on the first day of school.
Personal life
He was in a long-term relationship with Angie Cuturic, who was a part of Margera's directorial debut Haggard: The Movie and later Minghags, from 2002 to his death. Dunn had multiple tattoos of Cuturic, including in his inner arm and left ring finger.
Dunn was hurt in one of his final scenes, in which he and co-star Bam Margera are pulled out of a shot by a wire tied around their feet during filming of Jackass Number Two in 2006. Dunn fell straight onto his shoulder, causing muscle damage and leading to a blood clot that was once life-threatening due to its proximity to his heart and brain. Dunn became depressed after receiving Lyme disease treatment, and others for almost two years, and he did not attend any subsequent events connected to the films and series. He soon returned to the Jackass cast and Jackass 3.5 years later, saying he was keen to rejoin the cast and had more fun doing Jackass 3D than any previous film endeavors.
Career
Dunn appeared in five released films, Jackass Number Two, Jackass 3D, Jackass 3D, Jackass 3D, and Jackass 3.5. In 2006, Dunn and Bam Margera competed in the Gumball 3000 road rally in Margera's Lamborghini Gallardo. Later on, he went on "The Dunn and Vito Rock Tour," a Don Vito tour for which the DVD was released on March 20, 2007. In 2008, Dunn and Margera participated in the Dunn and Margera ferries.
During a WJFK-FM radio interview on December 2, 2008, Bam Margera announced that he and Dunn will go to Italy to film Where the F*%# Are My Ancestors. Dunn appeared on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in December 2008 at the same time. He was also in a film called Street Dreams, which was released in spring 2009. He co-starred with Rob Dyrdek and Paul Rodriguez Jr. Dunn, who was also on a show with fellow Jackass actor Bam Margera about them traveling through Europe in a Viva la Bam-like exhibition titled Bam's World Domination for Spike. He appeared in Jackass 3D, which was released on October 15, 2010.
Dunn co-hosted G4's Proving Ground, alongside Jessica Chobot, which premiered on June 14, 2011, six days before his death. However, the channel decided to postpone the airing of new episodes, according to a G4 spokesperson. "The show is off the schedule as of today until we discuss the next steps," the spokesperson said. On June 27, G4 announced that they would begin airing the remaining episodes on July 19, 2011. Dunn was filming Welcome to the Bates Motel when he died. The film was renamed The Bates Haunting later in 2013 and was released in 2013.
