Roger Kumble Career

Life and career

Kumble was born in Harrison, New York, and attended Harrison High School. He graduated from Northwestern University in 1988, where he wrote for the "Waa Mu" exhibition. With the Hollywood satire "Pay or Play," he began his career as a playwright and director in 1993, which landed him the LA Weekly Theater Award for Best Comic Writing. He received four Dramalogue Awards for his second play, 1997's "d girl," starring David Schwimmer. With the critically acclaimed "Turnaround," starring David Schwimmer, which sold out completely in Los Angeles in 2003, Kumble ended his Hollywood trilogy. Brooke Shields and Constance Zimmer appeared in his all female play "Girls Talk" in 2011. Margaret Gray of the Los Angeles Times named "Girls Talk" as the best new play of 2011.

With 1999's Sony Pictures box-office hit, Cruel Intentions, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon, and Selma Blair, Kumble made his debut feature-film-directorial debut. The French novel Dangerous Liaisons was transferred from French to modern New York by his screenplay. Cruel Intentions: The '90s Musical was based on his film in 2015 and had an extended run off-Broadway.

He followed Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate, Jason Bateman, and Thomas Jane in his Sony Pictures comedy The Sweetest Thing, as well as New Line Cinema's Just Friends, starring Ryan Reynolds, Anna Faris and Amy Smart. The New York Post ranked both Sweetest Thing and Just Friends as two of the top ten underrated films of the decade.

In Disney's 2008 family-comedy College Road Trip, he also directed Martin Lawrence, Raven-Symoné, and Donny Osmond. He followed it with the production of Furry Vengeance, starring Brendan Fraser and Brooke Shields in 2010.

He has produced episodes of Entourage, Suits, Pretty Little Liars, Revenge, and The Goldbergs in television. In 2019, Kumble produced two films. Christina Milian and Adam Demos appear in Netflix's Falling Inn Love, which is followed by Voltage Picture's After We Collided. We Collided first appeared in 2020 and became one of the country's biggest box office hits of 2020, which was disappointing.
