Rodrigo Duterte Life

Rodrigo Roa Duterte (born March 28, 1945), also known as Digong and Rody, is a Filipino politician who is the 16th and current President of the Philippines and the first from Mindanao to hold office.

He is the chairperson of PDP-Laban, the ruling political party.

Duterte, who turned 70 on June 30, is the first person to hold the Philippine presidency, having graduated in 1968 and receiving a law degree from San Beda College of Law.

He began working as a prosecutor and a prosecutor in Davao City before becoming vice mayor and then mayor of the city in the aftermath of the 1986 Philippine Revolution.

Duterte served as mayor of Davao for more than 22 years, winning seven terms and serving as mayor for the first time. Duterte's political ascension has been aided by his vocal support for the extrajudicial assassination of drug users and other criminals.

Over 1,400 killings reportedly by death squads operating in Davao between 1998 and May 2016; the victims were mostly opioid users, petty criminals, and street children.

Early life

Rodrigo Roa Duterte was born in Maasin, Southern Leyte, on March 28, 1945. Vicente Gonzales Duterte (1911-1978), a Cebuano lawyer and his mother, Soledad Gonzales Roa (1916–2012), was a schoolteacher from Cabadbaran, Agusan, and a civic figure of Maranao descent. Duterte has said that his grandfather was Chinese and hails from Xiamen, China. Eleanor, Jocelyn, Emmanuel, and Benjamin are among Duterte's four siblings.

Duterte's father was mayor of Danao, Cebu, and later provincial governor of (the then-undivided) Davao province. Ronald Rodrigo, Rodrigo's cousin, served Cebu City from 1983 to 1986 as Mayor of Cebu City. Ramon Duterte, Ronald's father, served in that position from 1957 to 1959. The Dutertes consider the Durano and Almendras clans' Cebu-based political families as relatives. Duterte's mother does not know anyone from the Roa clan in Leyte, as well as his uncle from the Roa clan. Duterte's family lived in Maasin and in his father's hometown in Danao, until he was four years old. In 1948, the Dutertes first migrated to Mindanao, but they then went back and forth to the Visayas until 1949. In 1950, the couple finally settled in the Davao area. Vicente was a licensed lawyer practising in private practice. Soledad served as a teacher until 1952, when Vicente entered politics.

Duterte spent a year at Laboon Elementary School in Maasin, Maasin. He spent his remaining elementary days at Santa Ana Elementary School in Davao City, where he began his primary school in 1956. After being barred twice from previous colleges, including one in the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) High School, he completed his secondary education in the High School Department of Holy Cross College of Digos (now Cor Jesu College) in Digos, Davao province, due to misconduct, he dropped out later. He graduated from the Lyceum of the Philippines in Manila in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science.

In 1972, he obtained a law degree from San Beda College of Law. He passed the bar exam the same year as a student. Duterte served as a special counsel for the City Prosecution Office in Davao City from 1977 to 1979, fourth assistant city prosecutor from 1981 to 1983, and second assistant city prosecutor from 1983 to 1986.

When he was a youth, Duterte was sexually assaulted by a priest. After being urged by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and AdDU officials to summon the priest and file a lawsuit against him, Duterte revealed the priest's name as Mark Falvey (d. 1975). According to press reports in the Philippines, the Society of Jesus in the Philippines has agreed to a preliminary payout of US$16 million to resolve allegations that Falvey sexually assaulted at least nine children in Los Angeles from 1959 to 1975. Falvey allegations began in 2002, but he was never charged with a felony. The Diocese of Sacramento paid a $100,000 settlement to a person who was allegedly assaulted and molested by Mark's brother, Arthur Falvey. However, it was not specifically stated in the study if Mark Falvey had been sent to Ateneo de Davao, according to the Jesuit-run Ateneo de Davao.

Duterte denied that he did not complain when the assault allegedly occurred, but said he was too young to complain about the priest's assault and was threatened by authorities at that time. After being banned and moved to a new high school, but not to his family, he continued to deny the details.

While at San Beda law school, Duterte fired a fellow student who had mocked him about his Visayan origins as well as other students of the same ethnicity. "I'm used to shooting people," he said. "I killed a person" when we were about to graduate from San Beda. Duterte said he shot the student in a corridor at the college when he yelled his names out again. The student survived, according to a reporter, but he refused to comment further about the incident.

However, in an interview that aired on 24 Oras and published on the official GMA News Online website on April 22, 2016, retired labor arbiter Arthur Amansec said Duterte and Octavio Goco were both playing with a pistol as it was normal for students to carry weapons to school in the seventies. Amansec is Duterte's former classmate who was present at San Beda College who was a witness. "The bullet struck the school's wooden floor and was embedded there," he said. Duterte and Goco were friends until Goco died in the United States years later, according to Amansec.

Personal life

Duterte is known as one of a huge fan of big bikes, but she doesn't approve luxurious cars. He used to own a secondhand Harley-Davidson as well as a Yamaha Virago. He was a regular smoker, but he eventually resigned due to health issues. Duterte is a huge fan of Robert Ludlum and Sidney Sheldon's books. Despite formal calls from media organizations and colleges requesting to suspend, Duterte is also known for his polite and vocal demeanor in public, particularly in interviews, showing no hesitation in profusely using profanity on several occasions.

In Davao City, Duterte has hosted Gikan Sa Masa ("From the Masses, For the Masses"), which is broadcast as a blocktimer on ABS-CBN Davao. He is also a member of Lex Talion Fraternitas, a fraternity based in San Beda College of Law and Ateneo de Davao University.

Duterte, a native of Cebu, is also fluent in Filipino and English.

In a 2019 address, Duterte said he was gay but had "cured himself" before meeting his partner Zimmerman.

Duterte was once married to Elizabeth Abellana Zimmerman, a flight attendant of Jewish and German American descent from Davao City. She traces her roots in Tuburan, Cebu. They have three children together (from eldest to youngest): Paolo ("Pulong"), Sara ("Inday Sara"), and Sebastian ("Baste")). Paolo and Sara joined politics, but Baste, with no interest in politics, concentrated on education and surfing, but eventually ran and won as Davao City Vice Mayor in 2019. Vicente's father, Richard Derek, died in 1968, but his mother, Soledad, died on February 4, 2012 at the age of 95. In 2015, a Zimmerman was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.

Although married to Zimmerman, Duterte was open about his infidelity and philandering, citing it as the explanation for his failed first marriage when asked in interviews. Zimmerman applied for nullification of her marriage in 1998 in the Regional Trial Court in Pasig. Duterte appeared in court but did not oppose Zimmerman's petition. The court ruled in her favour two years later, putting an end to Duterte and Zimmerman's 27-year union. With Zimmerman's comment that "Yes, [Rodrigo] is really a good leader," Duterte and Zimmerman have been on good terms in recent years. That's all he is. However, he is not in a position to care for a family." Zimmerman attempted to serve on the city council in 2001 but was turned down. The Duterte and Zimmerman couples are reported to have patched up and seem to have been courteous to each other 15 years after their marriage was declared null and null. Zimmerman stepped on Duterte's presidential campaign in early 2016, with Byaheng Du30, in which she and her daughter Sara and a few others delegates will travel by bus to major cities together.

Duterte is now married to Cielito "Honeylet" Avancea, a nurse with whom he has one daughter named Veronica ("Kitty"). Duterte has eleven grandchildren, half of whom are Muslims and the other half Christian, as well as one large grandchild.

On his paternal side, he discusses familial connections with some of the Visayas' most prominent families, particularly the Almendrases and Duranos of Danao, Cebu.

Despite being raised as a communicant of the Catholic Church, Duterte said he had not attended Mass for quite some time, even though he deemed it incompatible with his mayoral duties: "I would not be able to do anything as a mayor" during his visit to Binondo, Manila, December 19, 2016. He then stated that he still believes in God but not in faith. Duterte said he is Christian on June 26, 2016, but he also believes "in one God Allah." Later, he begged the Catholic Church to point to the existence of God, but that he is neither an atheist nor agnostic, but that there exists "somewhere, which controls the universe." He has also referred to God as "stupid."

He said he was "spiritual" and expressed his belief in "one Supreme God" in July 2018, but he refused to endorse Catholicism or organized faith. "A part of me that is Islam" was cited in 2019.

Buerger's disease, an inflammation of blood vessels, is mainly in the limbs, and Barrett's esophagus, wherein esophageal cells are gradually replaced by gastrointestinal cells. He has denied reports of throat cancer.

Duterte confessed to using the opioid drug Fentanyl in December 2016. A doctor prescribed the drug to relieve back pain and headaches, but he claims it would take longer than he was expected. The US National Institute on Drug Abuse has branded Fentanyl as "a potent synthetic opioid analgesic that is similar to morphine but is 50 to 100 times more potent." Duterte denied that he was addicted to heroin, and a spokesman said he was not affected by the drug's side-effects, which included confusion, anxiety, and hallucinations.

"I used to do overnight, but it's more costly." Duterte boasted about his use of Viagra: "When I was younger, I could do overnight, which is more expensive." I could do short time if I were old because I had such a short time to go back. That's it. No longer exist. It's even more difficult without Viagra."

During Duterte's marriage annulment to Elizabeth Zimmerman in July 1998, Dr. Natividad Dayan conducted a psychological investigation of Duterte. The result was that Duterte (then Davao City mayor) was found to have "antisocial narcissistic personality disorder" as a result of "gross indifference, insensitivity, and self-centeredness," as well as a "grandiose sense of self-entitlement and manipulative behaviours." He had a "pervasive tendency to demonize others and abuse their rights and feelings" and was "unable to reflect on the consequences of his conduct," according to the report.

Duterte revealed that he had myasthenia gravis, a neuromuscular disorder that makes his eye droop in a speech to the Filipino community in Russia.

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 1, 2023
On Monday, President Joe Biden told his Filipino counterpart Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that the US's commitment to helping its ally was 'ironclad,' during a meeting designed to strengthen a key link amid growing tensions regarding China's growing military threat. Marcos, nicknamed 'Bongbong,' was the first White House visit by a politician from the Philippines in ten years. They decided on greater military cooperation in an attempt to restore US-Philippine relations in the year after he took power from Rodrigo Duterte, who's hardline, nationalist policies put him at odds with the Biden administration.

In a brutal fight to the death, Roosters wieldeding 3ins blades hack at each other

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 15, 2023
ARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT An English photographer has captured the brutal world of cockfighting in the Philippines in a series of stunning photographs. Between 2019 and 2020, John Bolloten, of Bradford, England, documented the cockfights in Pasay City Cockpit, Manila (left). The photographs depict birds armed with 3-inch blade leg-spurs (top-right) who are 'hack fighting' as they're forced to fight each other to the death. Spectators (bottom right) can also be seen betting on the brutal wars that kill up to 30 million birds per year and up to £9.6 million in government revenue each month. Mr Bolloten said that although cockfighting was a "difficult thing to monitor" and a'stense climate,' it was important to record the 6000-year history 'honestly'.
