Robin Thicke Life

Robin Alan Thicke (born March 10, 1977) is an American singer-songwriter and record producer. He has worked with many artists, including Christina Aguilera, T.I., Nicki Minaj, K. Michelle, Pharrell Williams, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Flo Rida, Brandy, Kid Cudi, and Mary J. Blige.

"Lost Without Usher" and "Sex Therapy" were two of Thicke's albums, as well as Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III and "Usher's Confessions and Tha Carter III.

With his single "Blurred Lines," he rose to international prominence in 2013, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100.

He is currently a judge on the Fox musical competition show The Masked Singer. He is the son of late actor Alan Thicke and actress Gloria Loring. He married actress Paula Patton, and the tabloid press covered them extensively in 2013.

Personal life

Robin Thicke first met actress Paula Patton, who was then 15 years old at a youth club called Balistyx (co-founded and co-hosted by David Faustino) on Los Angeles' Sunset Strip in 1991 when he invited her to dance. They were married in 2005 and their son was born in April 2010. After 21 years together and nearly nine years of marriage, Thicke and Patton split in February 2014. Patton officially filed for divorce on October 9, 2014, which was accepted on March 20, 2015.

Thicke met April Love Geary at a party in 2014. They first appeared in public in 2015. Their first child, a daughter, was born in February 2018. Geary and his partner announced in August that they were expecting their second child; they became engaged on Christmas Eve 2018. Their second daughter was born in February 2019, and their son was born in December 2020.

Thicke is a close friend of fellow performer Usher. As Usher suggested among family and friends, Thicke was present for Usher's marriage to Tameka Foster, serenading the couple with his song "The Stupid Things."

Geary revealed on Instagram on November 10, 2018, that she and Thicke had lost their Malibu home to the Woolsey wildfire that had been burning the area. In a video for Entertainment Tonight, Thicke returned to his house, describing the completeness of the fire: "It's funny, [from what] you see in movies, you'd expect there would be one doll left over, or a book of course, something." [But] it's just ruins. "There's nothing left" on the page.

Robin Thicke Career

Life and career

Thicke was born in Los Angeles, California, on March 10, 1977. Gloria Loring, an American actress who appeared on NBC daytime drama Days of Our Lives, and Canadian actor Alan Thicke (1947–2016), who is best known for his role on the television sitcom Growing Pains. When Thicke was 7 years old, they divorced. Brennan, the older brother who performed as a voice actor and narrated the titular character on the Dennis the Menace cartoon, as well as Carter, a younger half-brother. Robin Thicke has appeared on The Wonder Years, The New Lassie, Just the Ten of Us, and several episodes of Growing Pains.

Thicke's parents were very supportive of his musical interests; his father aided him in writing and organizing his first songs. According to Robin Thicke, his father (then in his early teens) and his singing group As One would not pay for him (thence in his early teens) and his band, As One, to record a professionally produced demo tape, requiring Robin to concentrate on his studies and graduate from school before committing to a career in music. The demonstration was eventually paid for by jazz vocalist Al Jarau, uncle of one of the group's members. Brian McKnight, a R&B singer who was captivated enough by Thicke to invite him to join him in the studio to work with him, was the subject of his live stream. Thicke was signed by McKnight's production house; "Anyway," a song co-written with Thicke, was included on McKnight's second album I Remember You. His coworkers jokingly referred to him as "Brian McWhite" on the tinselsack. It was Thicke's relationship with McKnight, one of Thicke's first mentors, that led him to Jimmy Iovine's discovery and helped him land his first recording contract with Interscope Records at the age of 16. With future Beverly Hills 90210 actor Brian Austin Green, Thicke later formed a hip hop duo.

Thicke left on his own at the age of 17, finishing high school, earning a living, and supporting himself as a professional record producer and songwriter. Thicke has stated that although his parents did not attempt to discourage him from being in the music industry, their own knowledge of the entertainment industry made them leery from the start. As Thicke's list of accomplishments expanded, so did his parents' confidence in his decision.

Although initially signed as a musician and producer for other artists, Thicke first made a name for himself in the industry as a songwriter and producer for other artists before releasing and performing his own songs. Thicke co-wrote "Love Is on My Side" on Brandy's debut album; he also wrote for 3T's Brotherhood; and worked with Jordan Knight, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis on several songs in Knight's 1999 album "Give It to You." Knight invested in the youth writer's potential early on by purchasing recording equipment for him, according to Thicke.

He co-wrote and produced three songs for Ma's sophomore album, Fear of Flying, and co-wrote the song "When You Put Your Hands On Me" for Christina Aguilera's debut album. Thicke co-wrote the song "Fall Again" with Walter Afanasieff in 1999, but it wasn't released as a complete collection. The demo by Michael in 1999 was released on November 16, 2004 as an album track of his limited edition box set The Ultimate Collection. Thicke, as an artist, made recordings and appeared solely under his name. He will continue to do so until 2005.

Thicke, 22, after an initial Interscope contract with Tommy Mottola and Epic Records, decided to concentrate on the project's content, naming Cherry Blue Skies. "I decided I was going to make my album, and I wanted to make it available to labels, so I didn't have to worry about how to make my music" as Thicke told Billboard. Thicke began collaborating with veteran producer and label executive Andre Harrell, who under his direction, eventually signed with Interscope for a second time as part of Harrell and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds' Nu America imprint label in 2001, which was destined to be a part of Harrell's and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds' Nu America imprint label.

Thicke's debut single "When I Get You Alone" was released in 2002. Walter Murphy's "A Fifth of Beethoven," a disco interpretation of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, is included on the album. The music video for the song appeared on MTV2 and BET's Rated Next, and was spun moderately on pop and urban radio, peaking at number 49 on the Radio & Records Pop chart. "When I Get You Alone" became a chart success in Australia, Belgium, and Italy, and it reached the top ten of the singles charts in New Zealand and the Netherlands' Top ten.

The modest success of the album in 2003, when its name was changed to A Beautiful World. Despite the debut of "Brand New Jones," the album saw little buzz and debuted at number 152 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, selling 119,000 copies as of January, 2012. A Beautiful World fell short of the brand's commercial hopes. Thicke's under-performance was affecting him personally, but it was enough to make him a wanted collaborator. Blige, Usher, and Lil' Wayne, among others, have been cited by Thicke as those who later reached out to him. In 2013, Usher told The New York Times, "I was blown away" — I thought Beatles, Earth Wind & Fire, Shuggie Otis, Marvin Gaye — all in a single album. [Robin's] got a soul you can't buy, man."

As the Top 3 picked a song to sing, runner-up Blake Lewis performed "When I Get You Alone" during the 2007 season of American Idol. In interviews and on the American Idol website, Lewis has often included Robin Thicke in his list of musical influences. On Glee's Season 2 episode "Silly Love Songs," Blaine Anderson (played by Darren Criss) performed the song.

Following A Beautiful World, Thicke was eager to start recording his sophomore album, but financial and artistic problems stemming from his debut of his first album led to a lengthy stalemate between Robin and his record label. "The label had a lot of faith in my ability to sell during this period in his career," Thicke said. It became a question of, "Where does he fit?"

Is he not rock or pop enough?

Is he not soul enough?'"

Pharrell Williams, who had signed a distribution contract with Interscope for his record label, Star Trak, told Jimmy Iovine that he was very interested in Thicke, who possessed the talent he adored greatly.

Thicke, who signed to Star Trak in 2005, continued work on his second album, The Evolution of Robin Thicke. The first single, "Wanna Love U Girl," starred producer Williams and charted well on urban radio in the United Kingdom. Busta Rhymes produced a remix of the song in 2006. The album was released on October 3, 2006, almost a year after the single was released. Thicke first toured India.Arie and then opened for John Legend in late 2006.

In fall 2006, the ballad "Lost Without Us," was released on his second single. In November of the year, the song debuted on Billboard R&B charts for the first time. Thicke's breakout hit with the help of radio airplay. Its first white male artist to top the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart after George Michael did so in 1988 with "One More Try."

Thicke's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, and Adult R&B Songs were among Billboard's top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, a feat he'll repeat in the March 17 issue. Following its re-release as a Deluxe Edition (with three new bonus tracks), the album peaked at number five on the Billboard 200 on February 13, 2007. The Evolution of Robin Thicke was classified Platinum by the Royal Institute of British Architects on March 23, 2007. The Evolution of Robin Thicke became a commercial success in the United States with album sales of over 1.5 million copies sold domestically.

As the album's next and third single, Thicke and his record company Interscope decided that new tracks would be released shortly. Thicke's favorite was the song "Can U Believe," which peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and at number 99 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and debuts at number 16 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Songs chart and at number 99 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop charts and at number 99 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Soundr "Got 2 Be Down" was released as the album's fourth official single on October 2, 2007. On Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip Singles & Tracks, the single debuted at number 60.

Thicke appeared on "Lost Without Us" on The Oprah Winfrey Show on April 19, 2007. On May 29, he will be back for the show a month later, "Complicated" and Oprah's most popular song from the album, "Would That Makes U Love Me," while simultaneously promoting Beyoncé's tour, on which he will be an opening act. Thicke's debut attracted a swarm of backlash, with people reporting the show to announce that they didn't know he was on and off. "I wanted to please all of the people who missed it for the first time," Oprah explained. I had to do something I've never done before in order to get there. "I got on the phone and asked this very special guest if he'd consider returning."

Thicke completed album sales in late 2007, as the featured opening act on Beyoncé's North American leg, The Beyoncé Experience. The 2007 BET Awards, American Idol, and the 2007 Soul Train Music Awards are among the many notable performances in support of the album and its single "Lost Without Us" on the album. On September 24, 2007, he also appeared at KOKO in London for a one-off UK concert.

On September 30, 2008, Thicke released Something Else, his third solo album. It debuted on the Billboard 200 charts at number three and sold 137,000 copies in the first week. "Magic" was the first single from the album, marking a step forward in R&B music that fueled his 2006 breakthrough, Robin Thicke's Evolution. On the Adult R&B chart, "Magic" hit number two, ranked sixth on the Hot R&B/Hip chart, and number 59 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with number six on the Hot R&B/Hip chart and charting at number six. He continued his success with his second album, "The Sweetest Love," which peaked at number two on the Adult R&B chart and number 20 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop chart, and number 20 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop chart.

Thicke and Lil' Wayne performed "Ie My Hands" from the Grammy-winning album Tha Carter III on February 8, 2009, as part of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band's tribute to New Orleans and the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Thicke appeared on ABC's The Bachelor to perform "Magic" and "The Sweetest Love" for the remaining female contestants. Thicke wrote and produced a track for the film Precious, in which his wife Paula Patton appeared, but it did not appear on the soundtrack and remains unveiled. He co-ordinated a US tour with Jennifer Hudson, which began in Albany, New York, on March 31, 2009, and ended in Biloxi, Mississippi, Mississippi, 25 shows later. Thicke's official third single from Something Else was released "Dreamworld" at the start of the tour. Something Else has moved over 435,000 units in the United States as of April 2009.

Billboard.com revealed that Thicke would debut his fourth studio album in September of 2009, his first to not be mainly self-produced. On December 15, 2009, the album, Sex Therapy, was postponed to winter. The album's first single, produced by Polow Da Don, was the title track, which in March 2010 became Thicke's second song to top the Hot R&B/Hip Songs chart. "Rollacosta" featuring singer Estelle was the lead single for international markets. Snoop Dogg appeared in "It's in the Mornin'" the second US single was released. "Shakin' It for Daddy," a compilation by Polow Da Don, was supposed to be released as a single at some point, but it was eventually cancelled.

Thicke told Pete Lewis, Deputy Editor of Blues & Soul, "I'm always going to have the influence of Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Al Green in my songs." With this collection, I also wanted to showcase my hip hop side. I grew up listening to Run-DMC and N.W.A.A. And Pac and Jay-Z. "I wanted to make a record that represented how much influence that music has on me," the singer said. Leighton Meester's debut single "Somebody to Love" was released on October 14, starring Thicke. Thicke told MTV that he hoped to have Lil Wayne on the album. Lil Wayne's last two albums were also on display, and Lil Wayne was on his last two albums. "We're just really good luck charms for each other."

Thicke appeared on ABC's New Year's Rockin' Eve on January 1, 2010 and performed three songs in Las Vegas in a pre-recorded segment. It was also reported in 2010 that he and Melanie Fiona would appear on The Freedom Tour with Alicia Keys. The album has sold 289,000 copies in the United States as of October 2011. Thicke appeared at the 2010 Haiti earthquake on February 5, 2010 and was one of BET's Save Ourselves: Helping Haiti.

Thicke was confirmed to tour with Jennifer Hudson in 2011, who toured in 2009. On December 6, 2011, Robin Thicke's fifth studio album, Love After War, will be released later this year. The album debuted on the Billboard 200 and number six on the "Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums" chart, grossing 41,000 in its first week. Thicke has said in an interview to promote the album that a lot of the album's inspiration came from his family.

The album has three singles to date. "Love After War" is the title track, released on October 11, 2011, and has peaked at number fourteen on the "Hot R&B/Hip Songs" chart and topped the Adult R&B chart, his second song after "Lost Without Us" reached the top of the charts. The song's music video premiered on November 21, 2011. The music video features his wife Paula Patton and Thicke as a husband and wife after a fight.

Lil Wayne appears in "Pretty Lil' Heart," the second single on the record, which was released on November 8, 2011. The music video for that premiered on March 2, 2012. On the Hot R&B/Hip Songs chart, it debuted at number one. Thicke's promo single, which was a cover of Whitney Houston's classic "Exhale" (Shoop Shoop), was released on May 31, 2012. On April 10, 2012, "All Tied Up" was the third official single released by Urban AC radio. On "Vevo," the music video premiered on June 7, 2012.

On the 2011 Soul Train Music Awards, Thicke performed "Love After War" and later returned to perform "Reasons," trading verses with Joe and Eric Benét, as part of an all-star tribute to Legend Award winners Earth, Wind & Fire.

Thicke served as a guest advisor/mentor to the contestants on Adam Levine's team on season 2 of NBC's The Voice.

Thicke made his feature film debut in Jimbo Lee's Abby in the Summer, produced by Gabriel Cowan, John Suits, Dallas Sonnier, and Jack Heller in July 2012. The film, which was shot in 2012, was released in 2014 under the heading Making the Rules.

Thicke appeared as a judge on ABC's Duets, which also stars John Legend, Jennifer Nettles, and Kelly Clarkson. The judges acted as mentors who looked for musicians around the country (Robin Thicke's being Olivia Chisholm and Alexis Foster) to duet with them in front of a live studio audience. The premiere episode attracted 7 million viewers. The show went live on June 28, 2012, allowing the viewers to vote for their favorite contestants.

Thicke's "Blurred Lines" was released on March 26, 2013. T.I. And Pharrell's lead single on his sixth studio album, as well as Blurred Lines, was released. The video, starring actress Emily Ratajkowski, Jessi M'Bengue, and Elle Evans, was directed by Diane Martel and released on March 20, 2013, gaining more than 1 million views in just days after it was announced on Vevo. Before shooting the video, Thicke said he had received the permission of his wife Paula Patton.

In the first season of BET's hit show Real Husbands of Hollywood, Thicke starred as a fictionalized version of himself alongside Kevin Hart, Boris Kodjoe, Nelly, Duane Martin, J.B. Smoove, Nick Cannon, and Cynthia McWilliams. Thicke was unable to return to the cast for the second season's shooting, opting instead to concentrate on his music. "Once the song came out, and all this excitement was going, I couldn't finish the record, promote the single, go over seas, and do all the other things I wanted to do," Thicke says."

"The album is called Blurred Lines," Thicke said to the Breakfast Club. As I've grown older, I've found that we all believe we're either black or white, or on a straight path, but the majority of us are live somewhere in between those straight lines. And if you guessed it, the older you get, you'll discover, 'Damn, I don't know nothing about this.' I pay attention, I'm better prepared, and I'm always learning.' So I've been thinking about this for the past few years, and I guess that's what I've been thinking about these last few years."

The singer also described his attempt to make his music more poppy than in his usual environment. "I've been wanting to have more fun this year." "I think I took myself seriously as an artist, and I wanted to be like Marvin Gaye, John Lennon and Bob Marley, and the many brilliant singers and songwriters who performed about love and sang about relationships," Robin said. "Thenine years ago, my wife and I just wanted to have fun again, we wanted to be young again, and we wanted to dance again and go out with our friends," said the author. The song has been a worldwide hit, has peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and has also landed in 13 more countries, including the United Kingdom, where Blurred Lines became the 137th largest ever hit to surpass the one million sales mark and the United States, where Blurred Lines has been number one in 13 countries, including the United Kingdom, where Blurred Lines has only broken in 13 countries, including the United Kingdom, where Blurred Lines has reaches its first reigni On July 30, 2013, Blurred Lines was released.

The song and its related music videos were also chastised for being misogynistic and promoting rape culture, with some commentators describing the lyrics as "creepy" and "rapey." "What a pleasure it is to degrade a woman," Thicke said in an interview for GQ magazine Thicke. I've never had to do this before. "I've always respected women." Diane Martel denied that this was supposed to be 'derogatory toward women' in response to Thicke's comment in GQ that the video was to be 'derogatory toward women.' Maybe he wasn't thinking when he said it."

Thicke reiterated his comment about degrading women in an interview with Oprah Winfrey for Oprah's Next Chapter, not that the published GQ interview revealed that he was doing an impersonation of Will Ferrell's Ron Burgundy character while making the remark, thus not giving the sarcastic/joking context. Before being reposted a few weeks later, the song's unrated music video was first barred from YouTube.

Thicke performed "Blurred Lines" on stage with Miley Cyrus, who is twerking on stage, and "Give It 2 U" with 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar on August 25, followed by 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar. The performance attracted critical remarks for its alleged raunchiness, misogyny, bigotry, bigotry, racial, shaming, and cultural appropriation. With Twitter followers generating 360,000 tweets per minute about the event, it became the most tweeted about event in history, smashing Beyoncé's Super Bowl XLVII halftime record set six months before.

Thicke and T.I. were born on December 6, 2013. At The Grammy Nominations Concert Live, performed "Blurred Lines" accompanied by Earth, Wind, and Fire. Thicke had been nominated for three Grammy Awards, including Best Pop Vocal Album for Blurred Lines and Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for the album's single "Blurred Lines," according to CBS. He was named by the End Violence Against Women Coalition in the same month as one of more than 60 affiliate groups working to eliminate sexual and domestic violence, trafficking, and other forms of abuse. Prime Minister David Cameron, the poll's runner-up, received twice as many votes as Thicke's runner-up. In several UK student unions, it had been parodied numerous times and banned.

Thicke performed live in Chicago on January 26, 2014, marking the induction of Chicago's debut album, The Chicago Transit Authority, into the Grammy Hall of Fame. "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" Thicke and Chicago performed a medley of "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is? "Beginnings" and "Saturday in the Park" come to an end, with "Blurred Lines" ending "Beginnings."

Thicke appeared on Calling All Hearts in February 2014, along with DJ Cassidy and British singer Jessie J.

Thicke revealed in June 2014 that his next album would be named Paula, dedicated to his estranged wife, Paula Patton. On May 19, 2014, the lead single "Get Her Back" was announced. Thicke performed the song on the same day as he opened it with a show at the Billboard Music Awards, where he also received four awards for his song "Blurred Lines." With finalist Josh Kaufman, Thicke appeared on the season finale of "Get her Back" on The Voice. At the BET Awards 2014, Thicke performed "Forever Love" on their own.

During a Q&A session on Twitter and hosted by VH1, Thicke invited followers to ask questions using the hashtag #AskThicke. People protesting his lyrics, his personal preferences, and others among protesters all contributed to what The Guardian characterized as "an epic PR flop." "I can deal it, I'm a big boy" after a Twitter user pointed out that Thicke's remarks were "brutal."

The album, which had been planned for a Fall release, was delayed and released on July 1, 2014, five weeks after the initial unveiling of its lead single. Paula reached the top of the charts at No. 1. In its first week of introduction, 9 appeared on the Billboard 200, selling 24,000 copies. In a 2015 interview with Jody Rosen of The New York Times, Thicke expressed both embarrassment over his public commitments and regret over the album's commercialization, saying, "my record company didn't want me to put it out but they stuck by me." In hindsight, the only thing I would have changed was that I may not have advertised it or sold it. "I would have given it to the charity."

Following Paula's debut on television, Thicke spent several months away from public appearances and shows in order to concentrate on his personal life and work on new music. Thicke performed "Ooo Baby Baby" in honor of Lifetime Achievement Award winner Smokey Robinson and joined Robinson on stage for a group version of "My Girl" with Tori Kelly and Ne-Yo. Thicke premiered the lyric video for his latest single "Morning Sun" on Vevo on June 29, the following day would be revealed. On the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart, "Morning Sun" climbed to number 4 on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart, becoming Thicke's 11th top ten hit on Urban AC radio.

"The latest album is called [ed] Morning Sun," Thicke said in a Prestige Hong Kong interview. It's about new beginnings, new beginnings, and the heralding of a new day. It's about the last year of my life, the time I've spent with my family and families, particularly my son." Thicke also spoke about working with Pharrell and Timbaland, as well as with new collaborators DJ Mustard, Max Martin, and Ricky Reed. Nicki Minaj appeared on "Back Together," a new single from August 6, 2015. In 2016, Thicke returned to the cast of Real Husbands of Hollywood for its fifth season. Thicke parodied his public and career woes, including his divorce, divorce, heroin use, and a poorly received album in the premiere episode.

Thicke began appearing as a panelist on the reality competition series The Masked Singer in January 2019.

Thicke and producer Pharrell Williams reunited for the single "Take Me Higher" on January 21, 2021, after almost eight years since their hit collaboration, "Blurred Lines." It was on his eighth studio album, On Earth, and in Heaven, which was released on February 12, 2021, by his Lucky Music label in partnership with Empire Distribution. It's his first album since Paula's arrival in 2014. "I feel like I'm finally the person I set out to be," Thicke said of the album's inspiration: "I feel like I'm really the person I set out to be." I'm able to laugh at anything, which I've discovered to be the world's biggest superpower. I've completely embrace it, and nothing has been better for my soul. I realized that I was singing about when I saw the words 'On Earth and in Heaven: the people who aren't here and those who made me who I am.' The sun comes out after the rain. This song is the sunshine after the rain.

Thicke won his sixth No. 6 on Sunday. "Look Easy" on Billboard's Adult R&B Airplay chart, dated August 21, ranked 1 on the list.
