Robin Carolle Brantley (born August 4, 1957), also known as Robin Robinson, is a long-serving Chicago television news anchor who was best known for her 27 years as the main news anchor on Fox-owned WFLD-TV.

She can now be heard on WBBM (AM) as a fill-in anchor/reporter and WVON as the host of her own show, 'Robin's Nest.'

Early life and education

Robinson, a Chicago native, and Mati Robinson are the granddaughters of Louie Robinson, the West Coast editor for Ebony and Mati Robinson. In 1960, Robinson and her family migrated to Pomona, California, and in 1963, she and her family moved to Claremont, California. She graduated from Claremont High School and assisted in the school's integration.

Robinson obtained a bachelor's degree from San Diego State University.

Personal life

Robinson dated educator, author, and businessman Stedman Graham from 1982 to 1985.

She has been married three times. In the 1980s, Robinson married retired track and field sprinter Steve Williams. Terrence Brantley, a television spot salesman from July 1986 to 1990, was her second marriage, and they shared Jade (1989). Dennis Allen's third marriage from June 1991 to 1994 was her third, and the couple also shared her son Cameron (October 1991).

Robinson lives in Chicago's Northwest Side's Bucktown neighborhood.

Professional career

Robinson started her career in 1979 as a reporter and morning news reader for KGTV-TV in San Diego. She began reporting for KMGH-TV in Denver in 1982 as a consumer reporter.

Robinson joined WBBM-TV as a consumer reporter and later became the news anchor. Robinson worked with WBBM-TV in Chicago until 1987, when she joined the staff of WFLD-TV in Chicago as part of the inaugural evening news anchoring team with fellow KMGH alum Kris Long. Robinson turned down an invitation to return to KGTV in San Diego as an anchor, according to a Chicago Sun-Times article on June 24, 1987.

Robinson was brought on to the anchor desk by longtime Chicago news anchor Walter Jacobson in 1993. Robinson and Jacobson were together until Jacobson was fired in 2006.

With Bob Sirott, Robinson co-anchored WFLD's late local news. She has received numerous regional Emmy awards for her work.

She has appeared on numerous episodes of Fox's The Chicago Code as a Fox Chicago reporter alongside Bob Sirott.

Robinson resigned as the weeknight anchor of WFLD's 9 p.m. newscast in November 2013. She was reassigned from her current position as host of the station's special segment, 'Chicago at the Tipping Point,' which focused on the city's increasing brutality. She stayed in the role until she left WFLD on July 28, 2014 after a 27-year tenure.

She was hired as a fill-in anchor/reporter for WBBM (AM) NewsRadio 780 in April 2015. She was hired to host her own show on WVON-FM on May 12, 2015. Robinson, joined by former colleague and anchor Lauren Cohn in September 2015, a half-hour public affairs news program on WYCC's Chicago PBS station.
