Roberta Shore Career

Career

Shore appeared in numerous Walt Disney films starring the Mouseketeers and so was excited to be associated with them. (She auditioned as a Mouseketeer, but was turned down because she was taller than the majority of the cast at the time.) In Annette Funicello's self-titled collection and as French-speaking Franceska in The Shaggy Dog (1959), she appeared as Annette Funicello's rival Laura Rogan and as Franticello's sister.

Shore appeared in the 1959 film version of Blue Denim, starring Warren Berlinger, and a cameo appearance in A Summer Place as Sandra Dee's gossipy schoolmate Anne Talbert. She appeared in The Young Savages (1961), and in an uncredited role as Lorna in Stanley Kubrick's 1962 version of Lolita.

Shore's television appearances include appearances on Playhouse 90, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, The Lawrence Welk Show, The Lawrence Welk Exhibition (a singing appearance in 1959), several Western series, including Maverick, Wagon Train, Laramie, and Lawman, as well as regular appearances on Father Knows Best and The New Bob Cummings Show. Shore appeared in the first four seasons of The Virginian as Betsy Garth, the daughter of Shiloh Ranch owner Judge Garth, was played by Lee J. Cobb.

Shore resigned from her career at the age of 22, focusing on her marriage and family. Shore, who was born and raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, cites her faith as the primary reason for her decision. Shore and her husband married in Utah, where she has lived ever since. Shore was invited to appear in a short film called Cipher in the Snow by Brigham Young University Motion Picture Studio in 1974. It is her last film role to date.
