Englund is one of just four actors to portray a horror character eight times in a row, with Doug Bradley, who played Tobin Bell in the Hellraiser film franchise, and Chucky's Brad Dourif. Englund has stated that he loves the role of Freddy because it gives him a break from always behaving out the nice guy; in fact, many people working with him testify to his congeniality. The Krueger makeup artists had commented that Englund was so friendly and chatt that it made the long makeup application a little more difficult.

Englund's television appearances include stinting in the short-lived series Nightmare Cafe (1992), in which he played Blackie, the mysterious owner of the title cafe, and reprising his role of "Freddy Krueger" in the series Freddy's Nightmares – A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Series. He had also appeared in the web series "Fear Clinic," where he appeared in five episodes as Dr. Andover.

In an interview with Todd Sokolove of Forces of Geek, Englund said he would welcome a guest appearance in the ABC revival of V. But the series was cancelled before he would make such a guest appearance.

The critically reviled Fantastic Four revival from 2015, which generated less than half of what was expected and ended up being a disaster when factoring in the large advertising and promotion budget.

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 30, 2023
Robert Englund, who is best known for his role as Freddy Kruger in the Nightmare On Elm Street films, has hung up his bladed glove and picked a replacement for him. According to Variety, the 75-year-old actor reflected on his 50-year career in that he said he would not be casting the villain in eight feature films. He claims that in his forthcoming documentary Hollywood Dreams & Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story, he says, "I'm too old and fat to play Freddy now." I can't do combat scenes any more than one takes; I have a bad neck and bad back and arthritis in my right wrist. So I have to hang it up, but I would love to comeo.'
