Robby Krieger Life

Robert Alan Krieger (born January 8, 1946) is an American guitarist and singer-songwriter best known as the guitarist of The Doors; as such, he has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Krieger wrote or co-wrote many of the Doors' songs, including "Light My Fire," "Touch Me," and "Love Her Madly."

Krieger continued his touring and recording career with former Doors bandmates John Densmore and Ray Manzarek.

Rolling Stone named him as one of the top guitarists of all time.

Early life and education

Krieger was born in Los Angeles, California, to a Jewish family. His father, an engineer, was a fan of classical music, while his mother loved "Frank Sinatra and stuff like that." Peter and the Wolf was the first film to capture him. He began listening to other music when he broke it. The radio introduced him to the likes of Fats Domino, Elvis Presley, and the Platters. He tried the trumpet at the age of ten, but it wasn't for him. He began playing the blues on his parents' piano with much more success than the trumpet. He loved playing a friend's guitar at 17 years old.

Ronny, the Krieger's twin brother, attended a Hebrew school. Krieger was a board student at Menlo Park, California, where he learned how to play the guitar at night. He began by detuning a ukulele to the bottom four strings of a guitar and imitating a song he had heard on a record. Scholar Frank Chin taught Krieger how to play the flamenco guitar in the mid-1960s. Krieger and two classmates went on holiday to Puerto Vallarta, where he bought a peg-tuned Ramrez guitar and continued lessons for a few months during Christmas break. He performed in a variety of styles, including flamenco, folk, blues, and jazz, as well as being a member of the Back Bay Chamber Pot Terriers, a Menlo band.

Krieger attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, after high school. Wes Montgomery, Albert King, and Larry Carlton were among the most influential influences on his style, according to Krieger. In the song "Spanish Caravan," Krieger's flamenco guitar playing can be heard.

Personal life

The Krieger is married to Lynn Krieger, who has one child, Waylon Krieger.
