Rob Halford Life

Robert John Arthur Halford (born 25 August 1951) is a British musician, songwriter, and an author.

He is best known as the lead singer of Judas Priest, a Grammy Award-winning heavy metal band.

He is best known for his versatile voice and his signature leather-and-studs image, both of which have made heavy metal popular.

In addition to his Judas Priest service, he has worked on various front campaigns, including Fight, Two, and Halford. Halford's music style has never been as influential and immediately identifiable as heavy metal's, with the ability to switch between a throaty growl and an ear-splitting falsetto."

Halford was ranked 33 in the top rock voices by Planet Rock listeners in 2009.

Fans have also referred to him as "Metal God."

Personal life

Halford divided his time between homes in the United States and his hometown of Walsall as of 2014.

Halford is able to play many instruments, such as guitar, bass, harmonica, keyboards, and drums, but he rarely does so on stage.

Halford admitted that he owned a variety of classic vehicles, including a 1970s Aston Martin DBS, a Chevrolet Corvette, and a Mercury Cougar, in an interview with Motor Trend. He did not obtain his driving license until he was 38 years old. In 2010, he said that his main vehicle was a 2006 Cadillac DTS.

Halford was appointed a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Andy Beshear in May 2021.

Halford first announced his homosexuality on MTV in 1998. "It's a wonderful moment when you come out of the closet," he cried out. Now I've done it, and I've liberated myself. It's a great feeling for me to finally let go and make this remark, particularly to The Advocate, because this journal has brought me so much joy over the years. Well, this is just a wonderful day for me. Halford later admitted that he didn't have a plan or an agenda when he landed in to film his interview with MTV. He mostly talked about and promoted the Voyeurs album, which he produced with ex-Marilyn Manson guitarist John 5, when he began to question his sexuality after being asked a question from the studio's producer. It was described as "kind of a big leap forward."

Halford was concerned that if he would lose his fanbase as a result. He said he could not return to certain parts of the world due to lapidation. He called the 1970s and 1980s "very difficult," but not counting it as "important" musically. Halford jokingly stated that he could not be replaced by a straight man, bringing up late Queen vocalist Freddie Mercury's comments that "if Freddie hadn't been gay, the Queen would't have been a completely different band." But here's a really important part of my life in which I must get down on paper at some point.

Halford's boast is that he is "the state homo of heavy metal" and that his announcement was "the best thing I could have done for myself." He also said that he didn't reveal it earlier because he was afraid that it would be risky for him.

Halford addresses the racial discrimination that the LGBT community is still faces in some parts of the world. He recalled that his news came as a surprise and wondered if he would have told the Judas Priest members while he was in the band. Halford said he began to be concerned about negative responses after finishing his interview but was immediately overwhelmed with messages of support from his coworkers and supporters.

"You'd believe there has been some sort of improvement and people have moved on after such a long time," Halford says, although he wished after his announcement. Now that I'm going through my OAP heavy metal years (laughs), I'm sure a lot of it would be out by now. And it's a shame. We don't get to spend a lot of time on this planet together, so there's no point in wasting it being divided."

Since his debut, his lyrics had not changed, and he avoided addressing it in Judas Priest's songs. However, Fire Island is discussed in the song "Raw Deal" from the 1977 album Sin After Sin. He felt that the lyrics were "too much," but that the other members of the band agreed, but that was not allowed. "But if you listen to the song, it's almost like a coming-out experience for me." And no one actually registered. "Laughs" It's only been in recent years that people have picked up on this song. He said the he said that it was a good thing.

Halford revealed in September 2020 that he had a "George Michael moment" in 1992, where he was arrested for solicitation of a male undercover police officer, but that some of the officers were concerned about Judas Priest.

Thomas is now married to his wife.

Halford has previously discussed the degree of recognition of his sexuality within the metal group, describing it as both accepting and inclusive.

Halford said that hiding his sexual identity during Judas Priest's tenure caused him a lot of anxiety and loneliness, which culminated in his alcohol and heroin use.

Halford's band's 1986 album Turbo struggled with increasing heroin use and ferocious rivalry with his intimate partner. Following a painkiller overdose and later managed to remain sober after his partner died by suicide, the singer went back to rehab in January 1986. Since then, he has been clean and sober, according to him. During the upcoming Fuel for Life Tour, he recovered quickly and his live performances were regarded as some of his best ever.

He was born and raised in a Christian family, and his upbringing "has become more important" since I was first clean and sober on January 6, 1986. That was 25 years ago, and I think it's probably more significant to me now on a daily basis."

"Without it," he responded when asked in 2016 what role sobriety has played in the band's longevity. Well, I'd be dead. I'd be dead, literally.

Despite being clean and sober since 1986, he confessed that he did have the desire to "have a drink" and "have a smoke and do a line." I wish I could do all of this, but I can't. I've done all of that. I've done all of this and it's almost killed me. I wish I could do that because I'm with my friends and they're having a great time, but this little devil is on your shoulder,' Just have a quick shot. "Do a shot of Jack." He emphasized to those who are recovering from their abuse of dealing with the "little devil or the monkey on your back" and that being clean and sober was the "best gift" I received. It was a gift. I can't do this by myself. Another site is assisting. At this point, it's just a thrill to listen to the music."

Halford underwent back surgery in 2013 and umbilical hernia surgery in 2014.

After suffering symptoms in 2017, Halford battled prostate cancer during the COVID-19 lockdowns. In July 2020, he underwent prostatectomy. After more cancer was discovered, he went through radiation therapy in April and May this year and was cleared in June before heading to England to visit relatives. After a tumor was discovered in his appendix, he underwent an appendectomy.

Rob Halford Career

Career

Robert John Arthur Halford was born in Sutton Coldfield on August 25, 1951. He grew up in Walsall, where he was raised on the Beechdale housing estate, which was also home to Noddy Holders.

Little Richard, Janis Joplin, and Robert Plant were among his early influences.

Halford was introduced to Judas Priest bassist and co-founder Ian Hill by his sister Sue, who was dating Hill at the time. Halford, the owner of a men's clothing store, joined the band as a singer, bringing with him drummer John Hinch from his previous band Hiroshima. Halford and Hinch performed their first show with Judas Priest in May 1973 at the Townhouse in Wellington. On the compilation Downer-Rock Asylum on the Audio Archives label in 2019, the show was filmed and a part of it was released.

He made his debut on the band's first album, Rocka Rolla, in 1974. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, he appeared before Judas Priest. Halford first appeared in 1990 with a bent Judas Priest cross on his right arm and ring around his neck, as well as several on his shoulders. He also started shaving his head.

Halford rode onstage on a large Harley-Davidson motorcycle dressed in motorcycle leathers on the last date of the tour in August 1991 at a Toronto show. The stage riser malfunctioned and collapsed off a half-raised drum riser and fell off of it, breaking his nose in the process. When the band was playing the first song, he was left unconscious for a brief period. Halford returned and concluded the performance after regaining control. Halford had been planning to do so alone and had the support of his band members to do so. A studio executive told him he'd have to'resign' from Judas Priest in order to do so, and he wrote a letter citing his involvement in a solo venture. In that he was quitting the band, the letter was leaked and taken out of context. He was unable to tell what happened despite personal circumstances, and it was more than ten years before he rejoined the band and revived.

Halford's resignation, he formed Fight with Judas Priest drummer Scott Travis, bassist Jack "Jay Jay" Brown, and guitarists Brian Tilse and Russ Parrish. War of Words was the first album to be released in 1993, and the Mutations EP in 1994 followed. In 1994, an album support tour took place. In 1995, A Small Deadly Space was released, and there was also a tour to promote the album. Although War of Words was a straightforward, robust, and solid metal film, A Small Deadly Space had a gritty sound, making it less accessible to fans of the War of Words. When the band was set to be performing on the third album, they split-up, effectively ending their company under Epic Records' name. On December 20, 1997, half of the original members of the band played for a one-off appearance before disbanding once more. Halford discussed Fight's reformation in a 2015 interview.

Halford and guitarist John Lowery worked together in 1997 to develop 2wo, an industrial-inspired project. Voyeurs was their first album, which was released on Trent Reznor's Nothing Records label in 1998.

Halford returned to his metal roots in 1999 and formed a solo project. The album Resurrection was released in 2000 to critical acclaim. To promote the album, the band embarked on a tour with Iron Maiden and Queensrche. In 2001, Live Insurrection, a live album, was released. It was followed by the second album Crucible in 2002. Halford's fourth studio album Halford IV: Made of Metal was released in 2010.

Halford's reunion with Judas Priest came after years of rumors that he was no longer in the line-up, at least after the introduction of the Resurrection album, which some commentators said sounded more like Judas Priest than the band's previous album Jugulator (1997). Halford initially denied it out, but then reaffirmed it in 2002, saying, "Gut intuition tells me that at some point it will happen."

Halford returned to Judas Priest in July 2003 and began a tour in 2004 to commemorate his return. In 2005, the band called Angel of Retribution. The band's 30th anniversary was accompanied by a world tour that marked the band's 30th anniversary. Nostradamus was unleashed in 2008.

Judas Priest embarked on what was billed as their last world tour as a group, called the "Epitaph" tour in 2011. Halford said Halford would go forward with his solo band, which was subsequent to the tour's announcement.

Despite the 2011 "final tour" announcement, Halford and Judas Priest (minus K. K. Downing, who left the band prior to the Epitaph tour) released Redeemer of Souls, an album that was accompanied by a concert tour.

Judas Priest began to work on another studio album with Halford in 2017. Firepower was released on March 9, 2018.

Halford appeared on Black Sabbath for three shows. In November 1992, Ronnie James Dio replaced Ronnie James Dio for two nights, the first night Dio could not open a show for Ozzy Osbourne. Halford also filled in for Osbourne in Black Sabbath on August 26, 2004 (one day after Halford's 53rd birthday) at an Ozzfest display in Camden, New Jersey, since Osbourne could not perform due to bronchitis.

Halford appeared on stage in 2001 for a televised concert for MTV's 20th anniversary with drummer Tommy Lee, titled "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" as the final song a medley.

Halford appeared on stage three times before performing the song "Rapid Fire" on the Sheds Tour's last date in 1994, and the band received the fifth annual Revolver Golden Gods award in Los Angeles in 2013.

Halford appeared on stage twice during Pantera. He appeared on "Metal Gods" and "Grinder" in 1992 and "Grinder," and then again in 1997, where he appeared on "Grinder."

Halford performed the song "Breaking the Law" on stage in July 1997.

Halford appeared on stage at the Alternative Press Music Awards in Cleveland on July 18, 2016, where they performed a medley of "Painkiller" and "Breaking the Act."

Halford appeared in the 2002 film Spun, where he played a store clerk in a sex store.

Halford left Sanctuary Records in 2006 and founded Metal God Entertainment to produce and license any future content. Both Fight and Halford content was released in a remastered version, which also included DVDs from both bands.

On the 2009 video game BrĂ¼tal Legends, Halford gave the characters General Lionwhyte and the Fire Barons' leader a voice. The Baron's appearance and demeanor are based on Halford's Halford.

Halford's clothing collection Metal God Apparel began in 2010 with plans to grow retail sales.

Halford appeared in a 2010 commercial for Virgin Mobile, where he appeared as a priest.

Halford was writing an autobiography in 2019. Confess, the autobiography, was supposed to be published in October 2020 but it was published in Hachette Books on September 29, 2020. Halford revealed in August that he had produced an audiobook version of the book, which would be available at the same time as the physical release.

In the 2022 American teenage comedy-drama Metal Lords, Halford appeared as himself, expressing Kevin's conscience.
