Early life

Cyler was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and the youngest of three children of Katina, a cook, and Ronald Cyler, a truck driver. In 2013, his parents, who were still earning, sold what they had to move from Florida to California. They were homeless before Cyler was cast in Me and Earl and the Dying Lady. Cyler attended high school in California.

Career

Cyler appeared in the short film Second Chances in 2013. Cyler's acting debut came in 2015 when he co-starred in the film Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, which is based on Jesse Andrews' book of the same name. On January 25, 2015, the film made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Fox Searchlight Pictures bought the film's distribution rights and released it on June 12, 2015. Cyler appeared in Vice Principals, a HBO film from 1996.

In Lionsgate Films' 2017 revival of the Power Rangers, Cyler played autistic blue ranger Billy Cranston.

Cyler was part of the ensemble of I'm Dying Up Here, a Showtime drama executive-produced by Jim Carriery from 2017 to 2018. Richard Wershe Jr. co-starred in the drama film White Boy Rick, directed by Yann Demange in 2018.

Cyler appeared in the third season of the VH1 slasher television series Scream on September 13, 2017. He appeared in Deion Elliot, the lead role. On July 8, 2019, the season premiered.

Dan in the Netflix comedy-drama film Sierra Burgess Is a Loser, Cyler appeared as Dan in 2018. Cyler appeared in a recurring role on the second season of the CW series Black Lightning on November 13, 2018.

According to news, Cyler was cast in the DC Universe horror film Swamp Thing in January 2019.
