Biography and Career

She began modeling at the age of 22, before becoming a television presenter for the Portuguese youth television show Sic Altamente on channel SIC. She made her acting debut in the Portuguese telenovela Saber Amar, which aired on Portuguese television station TVI. She continued her telenovela appearances for the station.

Rita Pereira won national attention for her portrayal of Soraia Rochinha in the second season of TVI's Morangos com Açcar's Morangos com Açcar. Lucy was a guest on SIC's episode Noite das Bruxas (Halloween) as Lucy. Maria Estrela, Diana in Casos de Vida, 2005, and Alice Santos in Feitiço de Amor in 2008/2009 were among other actresses. Rita took part in a variety of charitable causes, including an event in Funchal to assist the victims of the 2010 Madeira floods and mudslides.

Pereira starred in Mel Fontes in Meu Amor in 2009, which was named Best telenovela by the 2010 International Emmy Award. Meu Amor was the first Portuguese telenovela to win an Emmy.
