Richard Quest Career

Career

Quest joined the BBC's financial section in 1987 and then moved to New York City in 1989 to become the BBC's North American business reporter.

Quest began working with the BBC from the United States as part of the then-fledgling BBC News 24 network. In a regular segment called World Business Report that aired between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. (GMT), he was the business correspondent covering the world stock market and commenting on the global stock market. He has appeared on the BBC's early-morning Business Breakfast show as a special guest.

Quest first appeared on CNN in 2001 with the introduction of Business International. Quest has covered a number of events for CNN, including an overview of the US elections as American Quest and the issuance of euro banknotes and coins on 1 January 2002, the last official commercial flight of Concorde. He has also been involved in CNN's coverage of several events involving the British Royal Family.

Quest turned down a chance to join the English language version of al-Jazeera "on the grounds that being gay and Jewish would not be appropriate."

Quest was announced as the host of ABC Game Show 500 Questions on April 9, 2015. For the show's second season, Dan Harris was recalled.

Quest debuted as a contestant on The CNN Quiz Show: The Seventies Edition special created by Eimear Crombie, as well as his partner Brooke Baldwin, who appeared on Stand Up for Kids on June 8th.

Quest is also a CNN Travel Blogger and has extensively covered Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which disappeared on March 8, 2014. Quest wrote the book The Vanishing of Flight MH370: The True Story of the Hunt for the Missing Malaysian Plane, which was released by Penguin Random House on March 8, 2016.
