Richard Patrick Career

Career

Patrick landed a gig as a touring guitarist in Reznor's live incarnation of Nine Inch Nails from 1989 to 1993 after a chance meeting with Trent Reznor in a Cleveland music store. His only known contribution to the Pretty Hate Machine can be heard at the end of "Sanctified." Patrick also appeared in "Down in It," "Head Like a Hole," "Wish" and one of two promotional videos for "Gave Up" (along with Marilyn Manson), as Reznor rented the house and installed a recording studio in it. Following a warning from Reznor that he should "get up off his ass and write a song" in reaction to Patrick's request for more money, Patrick decided to work as a delivery driver at a pizzeria.

Patrick performed in Nine Inch Nails' induction performance in September 2022, performing classic tracks from his time with the band as well as reporting his Filter hit, "Hey Man Nice Shot" in September 2022.

Patrick formed Filter, a gang of Nine Inch Nails, who left the band after the band's first album, 1995's Short Bus. Richard Patrick's second album, Title of Record, was released four years later with support from guitarist Geno Lenardo.

Filter's third album, The Amalgamut, was released in 2002, with Patrick canceled the majority of the tour to check into alcoholism treatment, a problem that had been plaguing him for years. Filter's hit single "Take a Picture" came from an airplane experience.

Filter released Anthems for the Damned, a fifth track after a five-year absence. Except for the drumming, which was done by Josh Freese, Patrick handled the vocals and the majority of the instrumentation on the album. On several occasions, he appeared with Wes Borland and John 5 on a few individual songs.

The band's fifth album, The Trouble with Angels, was released just over two years after Anthems on August 17, 2010, for the first time in the band's history. Patrick recorded the album with the Anthems for the Damned touring band, Mikea Fineo, Mitch Marlow, and John Spiker, but the band's new guitarist (Rob Patterson) and bass player (Phil Buckman) were recruited for touring in support of the album.

Patrick returned to the studio in April 2012 to work with producer Bob Marlette and Kill Hannah guitarist Jonny Radtke on his new Filter album, under the working title Gurney and the Burning Books. Patrick's sixth studio album The Sun Comes Out Tonight was released on June 4, 2013.

Patrick reunited with Ben Grosse, Michael "Blumpy" Tuller, Brian Virtue, and former Filter guitarist Brian Liesegang in early 2015 to record Filter's most recent album. Patrick and contributing artists Oumi Kapila, Chris Reeve, and Ashley Dzerigian unveiled Filter's seventh studio album Crazy Eyes on April 8, 2016.

Patrick reunited with Brian Liesegang in 2018 to record Rebus, a short bus, and PledgeMusic funded the project. Due to PledgeMusic's bankruptcy, the project has not been announced. Patrick and Liesegang decided to host a Title of Record 20th anniversary tour in the fall of 2019, but the tour was postponed due to scheduling conflicts with deadlines for film scores that Patrick was working on. Patrick chooses They Got Us Right Where They Want Us, rather than the Rebus releasing of a new Filter album featuring a new lineup of musicians. At Each Other's Throats.

Patrick called up the DeLeo brothers of Stone Temple Pilots to help him write a song while writing songs for Filter's fourth album. The result was a song called "A Better Place." Due to the chemistry the trio had when writing the song, they decided to form Army of Anyone, which became Army of Anywhere.

The formation of Army of Anyone was announced on September 29, 2005. Ray Luzier, the Korn's future drummer, was also included in the lineup, along with Dean and Robert DeLeo.

Army of Anyone's self-titled debut album was released on November 14, 2006. "Goodbye," the album's first single, debuted at number three on the US Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.

Army of Anybody's last performance to date in El Paso, Texas, on May 26, 2007. The band has since been on hiatus.

Patrick arranged the score for Alexandros Avranas' 2016 film Dark Crimes, a crime thriller based on a 2008 David Grann essay that was published in The New Yorker. Richard and his brother Robert Patrick performed on Last Rampage's film score in 2017.

Patrick wrote an editorial titled "Talking About War" for the Huffington Post on August 25, 2008. He's now writing a column titled Filtering The Truth About Suicide Girls. On Election Day 2008, his first essay, on politics and faith, was published.

Oisin Murphy's switch from Flat racing to hurdles is a measure of his remarkable talent

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 6, 2023
Oisin Murphy, the three-time Champion Flat Jockey, has won Group One races in eight other nations. All the excitement and glamor will be far away on Thursday, when Murphy takes his first ride over hurdles at Wincanton. It has long been the 27-year-old's desire to try himself in the winter sport, so it makes sense that the horse he will be riding is called Let's Do This. Many will believe that no major changes will be needed, that all racing will be the same, but that could be further from the truth: Murphy, to make an analogy, is currently the cyclist in the Tour De France who is now bouncing through a forest on a mountain bike.
