Richard Donner Life

Richard Donner (born Richard Donald Schwartzberg, April 24, 1930) is an American film and television director and producer.

Donner made a name for himself by directing the horror film The Omen (1976), starring Christopher Reeve. Donner went on to direct movies including The Goonies (1985) and Scrooged (1988), while Lethal Weapon (1987) and its sequels reinvigorted the buddy film genre.

The Donner's Company, operated by him and his partner, producer Lauren Shuler Donner, is the company that is most well known for producing the X-Men film series.

He received the President's Award from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, & Horror Films in 2000.

Donner is "one of Hollywood's most reliable developers of action blockbusters," film critic Michael Barson writes.

Early years

Richard Donald Schwartzberg was born in Bronx, New York City, to Russian Jewish parents, Hattie (Horowitz) and Fred Schwartzberg. His father owned a small furniture manufacturing company, and his mother, a stay at home mother, had a difficult time. Joan was his sister. His grandfather owned a movie theater in Brooklyn, which had a lot of influence on his film taste.

Donner, a high school graduate, served in the US Navy and became an aerial photographer. He briefly attended New York University but then decided to pursue a career in acting, relocating to Los Angeles and adopting the stage name "Richard Donner."

Personal life and death

Lauren Shuler, a film director, was married by Donner on November 27, 1985. The two companies joined Shuler-Donner Productions (now The Donners' Company) the same year. Donner and Shuler were married together until the former's death.

Donner was the cousin of actor Steve Kahan, who appeared as a policeman investigating Otis in Superman: The Movie, and he played Captain Ed Murphy in the Lethal Weapon film franchise. In several of Donner's later films, he also played Kahan.

Donner died on July 5, 2021, at his West Hollywood, California home, at the age of 91. Heart disease with atherosclerosis as an underlying cause was the reason for the death.

Harrison Ford first cracked the famous bullwhip as Indiana Jones in 1981, and he says that the forthcoming instalment will be his last. The 80-year-old Hollywood icon, who will star in the fifth film which doesn't yet have a title, told the crowd at D23 Expo in Florida: 'This is it!I will not fall down for you again!' Because the actor has digitally de-aged for at least half of the film, fans are suggesting that the new film be named Indiana Jones And The Fountain Of Eternal Youth.
