Rich Swann Life

Richard Allen Swann (born February 15, 1991) is an American professional wrestler who is currently signed to Impact Wrestling, where he is the current Impact X Division champion.

Swann is also known for his WWE experience, where he is a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion and Major League Wrestling (MLW).

In addition, Swann has competed for Evolve, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), Chikara, Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) and Dragon Gate.

He is a retired RevPro British Tag Team champion, Open the Owarai Gate, Open the Owarai Gate, and Open the Triangle Gate Champion.

Early life

Richard Allen Swann was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on February 15, 1991. When Swann was 12 years old, his father was murdered by his mother. His mother died when he was 16 years old, after which Swann "fell in with a raucous crowd" and began using cocaine. Swann, however, stopped using cocaine with the help of his aunt, obtained an apartment and finished high school.

Personal life

In March 2017, Swann married Vannarah Riggs, a fellow professional wrestler better known as Su Yung, for five years.

Swann was arrested in Gainesville, Florida, on suspicion of battery charge and kidnapping/false imprisonment on December 10, 2017. The perpetrator was identified as his wife. Swann and Riggs had gotten into an argument over Swann's criticism of Riggs' appearance at a show the night, according to the arrest report. Witnesses state Riggs grabbed her in a headlock and pulled her back into his vehicle when she escaped from Swann. Swann was released from Alachua County Jail later the same day and told to get in touch with court services. All charges against Swann were dismissed on January 25, 2018, after a judge found that there was "insufficient evidence" to proceed with the lawsuit.

Riggs announced that she was pregnant with the couple's first child on December 30, 2021. In February 2022, their son was born in February 2022.

Rich Swann Career

Professional wrestling career

Swann started training for professional wrestling in 2005 under Adam Flash, Darren Wyse, and Ray Alexander in York, Pennsylvania. Rich Money and El Negro Mysterio made his debut in 2008, collaborating under the ring names Rich Money and El Negro Mysterio. Psicosis, Eddie Guerrero, Chavo Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Rob Van Dam, Jerry Lynn, Super Crazy, and The Hardy Boyz are among Swann's influences.

Swann started training at Combat Zone Wrestling's (CZW) training school in 2009, where he was defeated by Sabian in a dark match. Swann won over Chris Halo on June 13 in his first appearance on the main card. Swann qualified for the inaugural CZW Wired TV Champion on October 10, 2008, a competition was held on October 10. In his second round match on November 14, he was eliminated by Adam Cole after a victory over Joe Gacy. Swann formed the "Irish Driveby" tag team with Ryan McBride on January 30, 2010, defeating the Spanish Armada (Alex Colon and LJ Cruz) in their first match together. Swann and McBride were granted a shot at the CZW World Tag Team Championship on February 13, but the Best Around (Bruce Maxwell and TJ Cannon) declined them on March 13. Eventually, Irish Driveby triumphed over teams including Notorious Inc. (Devon Moore and Drew Blood), The Garden State Gods (Corvis Fear and Myke Quest), and Team Macktion (Kirby Mack and T.J. Mack). Swann defeated Drew Gulak for the CZW Wired TV Championship on August 7. Swann and McBride qualified for the new CZW World Tag Team Champions on September 10, beating Team Mackie in their first round match. However, they were disqualified from the tournament by Philly's Most Wanted (Blk Jeez and Joker), who were unable to participate in the semifinals on November 13. The Irish Driveby was defeated by the Runaways (Joe Gacy and Ryan Slater) on January 7, 2011 in what would be the team's last match together.

Swann was trying to qualify for the Best of the Best X tournament twice and unsuccessfully challenging Adam Cole for the CZW World Junior Heavyweight Championship, but he lost against Alex Colon on May 14, 2011. Robbie Mireno, Ruckus, and Chrissy Rivera arrived in the arena and announced that they were Blackout reforming before offering both Swann and Colon spots in the stable, which both accepted. Swann created a new, vibrant, and popular version of one of CZW's most respected organizations, with his new colleagues. Swann returned to the action on November 12, where he, Colon and Ruckus defeated Alex Payne, Joe Gacy, and Ryan Slater in a six-man tag team match after a six-month absence from CZW, during which Swann ostensibly represented Blackout in Japan. Swann gained another shot at the CZW World Junior Heavyweight Championship on January 14, 2012, but was unable to dethrone Sami Callihan. Swann spent more time in Japan over the year, resulting in his time with Blackout being short-lived. Alex Colon and Chrissy Rivera left Blackout to form the new 4Loco stable in 2012. Swann returned to action after another seven-month absence from CZW, losing in a singles match to Shane Strickland on August 11. On September 8, the two teams met again in a rematch, where Strickland was triumphant once more. Swann attempted to take Strickland's hand but then kicked him out with a spin kick after the game. During an afternoon show and later in the evening, Swann first unsuccessfully challenged Masada for the CZW World Heavyweight Championship, but A. R. However, after Aries was defeated by Masato Yoshino, Swann actually turned down his invitation. Swann, Chuck Taylor, and Johnny Gargano struck Cima and Ricochet later that day, but instead of joining any of Dragon Gate USA's established stables, they were instead establishing a new one called "Ronin." In a six-man tag team match, the villainous Ronin stable secured their first match together at Freedom Fight 2010 pay-per-view, defeating Aries, Genki Horiguchi, and Ricochet in a single match.
