Ricardo Arjona Career

Sports career

Arjona was a good basketball player who competed for Leones de Marte and TRIAS. He toured Central America as a member of Guatemala's national basketball team. Until recently, he set the most points scored (78) in a single game by a Guatemalan. He also taught at a primary school (called Santa Elena III), where he said he spent six hours teaching lessons and the remainder of the day playing football. He was given a tour by a Ministry of Education representative who was sent to assess his students. The students' education, according to the representative, was actually above average. He began working as the basketball coach of a boys' school in 1988 (Instituto Don Bosco).

Music career

Arjona began his musical career at the age of 21, when he signed with the now defunct Guatemalan record label Discos de Centroamérica, S.A., and PolyGram. He debuts his debut album Déjame Decir Que Te Amo in 1985. Arjona was portrayed as a stereotypical Latino lover by the label. "Déjame Decir Que Te Amo" was released as a single track on CD. This album failed to chart, but critics paid it some respect, with Allmusic recognizing it as three stars out of five. He decided against music and its commercial demise, and he moved to teach school due to his bad taste in recording the album and its commercial failure. Arjona changed course and sought to represent his country in the OTI Festival with the song "Con Una Estrella En Vientre." The song "S.O.S Rescátame" was recorded immediately after this decision. Jess, Verbo No Sustantivo, his second studio album, found him commercial and critical success throughout Latin America and the United States, and he became a best-seller in several Central American territories.

Arjona's first decade as a regular in Mexico's telenovela "Alcanzar una Estrella" (English translation: Reaching a Star), which led him to his aspirations as a well-known singer throughout Latin America. Del Otro del Sol, one of his least popular albums since joining Sony Music in 1990, became Del Otro Lado del Sol. He began writing songs for other artists, such as Yuri's "Detrás de Mi Ventana," for her album Nueva (1993). The album debuted at No. 1 on the US Hot Latin Songs chart for three weeks in 1994, and it debuted at No. 1 on the US Hot Latin Songs chart for three weeks. Together with Melina León, he later covered the song on his compilation album, Trópico (2009). Animal Nocturno, Arjona's fourth studio album, was released in 1993. "Mujeres" was one of the album's hit singles (No. ) (No. 6) and "Primera Vez" on Latin Songs) and "No. 67 on Latin Songs. It was 6 on Latin Songs) and received thirteen platinum and one diamond awards. Animal Nocturno first appeared in 1994 and brought Arjona to prominence with his Mexican telenovela Alcanzar Una Estrella, which allowed him to display his songwriting and singing abilities.

With the introduction of Historias, his fifth studio album, he confirmed his fame. The album has sold 2 million copies in Latin America, earning twenty-seven platinum and two diamond awards, including quadruple Platinum in Argentina. History has no. 1 in the United States. The hit singles "Te Conozco" (No. 43) appeared on Top Latin Albums, with the hit singles "Te Conozco" appearing (No. "Seora De Las Cuatro Décadas" and "Billboard Latin Songs) and "Seora De Las Cuatro Décadas" (No. 3). The 7th song on Latin Songs is on the order of 7. "If you were to pick just one Arjona album for your collection that wasn't a greatest-hits compilation," Jason Birchmeier wrote about the album. "History was a career-defining success for Arjona." His fourth and fifth studio albums were among the best-selling of his career.

Si El Norte Fuera El Sur Survival, his sixth studio album, was released in 1996. This was the first album in which Arjona went beyond love to investigate nationalism and globalization, among other socioeconomic topics. Four singles were "Si El Norte Fuera El Sur" (No. : "Tu Reputación" (No. 9) is one of Latin Pop Songs' main themes, whose main focus is the United States' friendship with Latin America. No. 18 on Latin Songs, No. No. "Me Ense" (No. 2) is a Latin pop song) on Latin Pop Songs. (No. 18 on Latin Pop Songs) and "Ella y Él" (No. 2). No. 24 on Latin Songs, No. 6 on Latin Songs. (on Latin Pop Songs) 88, a hit on Latin Pop Songs. "All in all, it's Arjona's third great album in a row, each unique from its predecessor," Birchmeier said. In 1997, Billboard named it the Year's Best Album of the Year. Multiple Platinum awards have been granted to Si El Norte Fuera El Sur in the United States and Argentina.

Sin Daos a Terceros, his seventh studio album, was released in 1998. Terry Jenkins of Allmusic's review of the album, which has earned it four stars, writes "Sin Daos a Terceros," continues Rimeiro Arjona's streak of success, affecting albums that highlight both his melodic skills and his acute social consciousness. Sin Daos a Terceros' fourth consecutive album to receive critical acclaim, he made debut at No. 6 on Top Latin Albums, the first to make it to the top ten and No. 1 in the United States, and the first to reach the top ten. Billboard's Latin Pop Albums chart ranks 3rd on the Billboard Latin Pop Albums chart. It contained the hit singles "Dime Que No" (No. ) (No). No. 6 on Latin Songs, No. 3 on Latin Pop Songs) and "Mentiroso" (No. 1). No. 22 on Latin Songs, No. (List 5 on Latin Pop Songs) Multiple Platinum awards have been given to the album in the United States and Argentina. More than 700,000 copies were sold.

Arjona's first live album, published in 1999, was released on December 5, 1998, in front of a live audience of over 100,000 people at the Hippodrome of Guatemala City. In Mexico and Argentina, the album was moderately successful, with Gold and Platinum designations. It was the hit "Desnuda," the first No. 1 in the United States, and it was his first No. 1 on the Billboard Top Latin Songs chart. Vivo's best-selling album in the United States had sold 243,000 copies as of December 2005, his best-selling album in the country as of that date.

Galera Caribe, Arjona's eighth studio album, was preceded by the single "Cuándo," which became a commercial hit and debuted at No. 59. Both top Latin Songs and Latin Pop Songs are included in this article. "I had more friends" before beginning, the singer said. He also said he had "lived in love with Caribbean culture and music since my youth." "All in all, Galer's catalog is a strange one that most fans can stomach without missing much." The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for the first time, peaking at No. 84. 136, while charting at No. 1 of the best Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums. In Mexico, Argentina, and the United States, it was given Platinum status. The three singles were "Lo Poco Que Queda De Mi"; "Mes"; which reached No. 1. 19 on Top Latin Songs and No. 131 on No. 19 and No. 211. "A Cara O Cruz," which reached No. 11 on the Latin Pop Songs charts, and "A Cara O Cruz," which debuted at No. 11. 28 on Latin Pop Songs. Arjona began in Mexico in 2000 and ended in 2001 on his Galer's Caribe Tour, which sold more than one million copies.

Arjona explores a woman who appears "in the form of a wealthy, well-armed magnate with [...] some sinister vision for the world." Some commentators argued that it was a "metaphorical blow" on capitalism and imperialism, referred to as "classic Arjona targets." After fans and observers revealed links between the song's theme and the September 2001 attacks, which resulted in the FBI probing Arjona, the song became a point of some controversy. "Mesas" had no connection to the attacks, according to the singer, and that the lyrics were pure coincidence. He later stated that the FBI had never personally talked to him, but rather to someone on his staff.

Arjona released his ninth studio album, Santo Pecado, on November 19, 2002, just ahead of his debut "El Problema" on No. 1. "Minutos" debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard Top Latin Songs and Latin Pop Songs charts, as well as "Minutos," which debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard Top Latin Songs and Latin Pop Songs charts. On the Top Latin Songs and No. 5 on the top Latin Songs of the Year and No. 3 on the Latin Pop Songs charts. Santo Pecado's commercial success continued to grow, with over 300,000 copies sold in Mexico (double Platinum), 160,000 in Argentina (quadruple Platinum), and 200,000 in the United States (double Platinum). Arjona released Lados B, his second compilation album, with songs that were "not so commercial" and that he wanted to have a second shot at radio airplay in 2003. The collection featured songs from all of his previous studio albums. The album's critical reception was mixed. Birchmeier characterized it as "a misleading entry point into Arjona's catalog." Despite this, the album in Mexico was given a Gold medal.

Arjona's tenth studio album, Adentro, was released on December 6, 2005. This was Arjona's first collaboration with Tommy Torres. In a chat, the singer said he first "tested" Torres by giving him the "hookest and worst tracks" on the album, "Acompaame A Element Solo" and "Iluso." Torres said he "went all out on the first demo, employing a full band with a string orchestra," which captured Arjona's interest. The album was critically acclaimed, with Evan C. Gutiérrez of Allmusic giving it four stars out of five and quoting that "Be it for the stripped, natural production value, Ricardo Arjona's charisma, or his timeless lyricism, Norte's emo. Although the instrumentation, execution, and overall sonic palette of this project are minimal and unassuming, there is still a depth and brilliance to them. Adentro isn't tired or hungry for more, as Adentro is." Arjona continued that Adentro was "a very representative and extremely comprehensive album," adding that "having different designers made it abundant in possibilities."

Adentro became Arjona's second studio album to debut on the Billboard 200, debuting No. 82. 126 people were killed in the 2006 census. It was the No. 1 in the United States. 3 on the Top Latin Albums and No. 2 on the Latin Pop Albums charts. Adentro's lead single, "Acompa Estar Solo," was released on Friday (No. 5) No. 7 on Latin Songs, No. "Pingüinos En La Cama," featuring Spanish singer Chenoa, is on Latin Pop Songs No. 1). No. 44 on Latin Songs, No. 4. 19 Latin Pop Songs; "Mojado" featuring American Tejano/Norte band Intocable (No. ), a German pop artist. No. 34 on Latin Songs, No. 1 in San Francisco. "A Ti" a Ti" is one of 30 Latin Pop Songs (No. No. 14 on Latin Songs, No. 14. "De Vez En Mes" (No. 3) and "Last Pop Songs" on Latin Pop Songs). There are 49 Latin Songs on the Internet, No. 1 is out of order. (Helena, the 16th of Latin Pop Songs.) More than a million copies were sold around the world.

Arjona began the Adentro Tour in 2006, the first leg of his world tour. In 2007, the tour returned to Spain for a second leg, in which he visited more countries. About two million people attended the performances. During the International Fair in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, the tour was officially concluded on September 14th. Quién Dijo Ayer, Arjona's fifth compilation album, debuted on August 21. The album is a two-disc set with new hits from Sin Daaster; Eros Ramazzotti on "Sin Daos a Terceros) from Historias; and Panteón Rococó on "Reality, No Hate Tan Solo," the singer's last album, as well as Marta Sánchez on "Sin Daos a Terceros) from Historias; and Panteón Rococó on "Historia de e "The singer [Sandro] had the intention of inviting Roberto [Sandro] for his album, and he [Sandro] demonstrated enthusiasm and demonstrated the same admiration to Arjona, according to Argentinian newspaper Clarn. He seemed to him that [Arjona] was an artist who holds the same ideals as he preached." The second disc featured remastered versions of the hits on the first disc, but not in their original versions. It was the second time Arjona collaborated with Torres.

The album's success made it a critical and commercial success. "while only a few of the latest iterations depart stylistically from the originals," Jason Birchmeier said, "the current recordings breathe new life into these songs, which should be well known by long-time fans" and reaching double Platinum in Argentina and the United States, as well as Platinum in Mexico. In Colombia, Chile, and Venezuela, the record was also classified Gold. Two singles were also released from the album. "Quién," Torres' first-released song, never to reach the top 20 on Latin Songs, ranking No. 1 at No. 2. However, we have reached No. 21 in the 21st century, but we have yet to reach No. 21. On the Latin Pop Songs chart, there are 4 on the top 4 songs. "Quién," Arjona wrote, "is the flashback of those who end up loving alone." The second single "Quiero" debuted at No.12 on the Latin Songs chart and at No.8 on the Latin Pop Songs chart, and at No.8 on the Latin Pop Songs chart.

Arjona signed a long-term contract with Warner Music Latina in September 2008 after spending the majority of his career with Sony and Sony BMG. "He's an artist that fits perfectly with our company," Iigo Zabala, chairman of Warner Music Latin America, said. "We are a brand that has a huge catalogue of songwriters and quality pop and rock from Maná, Alejandro Sanz, Laura Pausini, and now, Arjona." On November 18, Arjona released 5to Piso, his eleventh studio album. The album was preceded by "Cómo Duele," the first single on the album, which debuted at No. 1 on September. Two songs on Top Latin Songs and No. 1 on No. 2 are no. 2 and No. 1 on Latin Pop Songs. In the first month at retail, 200,000 copies of the album were sold, and it also went platinum in Mexico, Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia, Guatemala, and many other countries. It debuted at No. 1 in the United States. He was his second top-topper on the charts, and his second on Top Latin Albums, with more than 500,000 copies sold around the world. The album received a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album and a Latin Grammy Award nomination for Best Singer-Songwriter Album. The album received a largely critical response. Birchmeier ranked it three-and-a-half out of five for his performance, saying that "More typical than exceptional for Arjona at this point in his career," 5to Piso says isn't as grand an album as his previous few... However, it's a good album all the same, particularly the first batch of songs that end with 'Cómo Duele', and it finds Arjona at the top of his craft."

Although Warner Music released his latest studio album, Sony Music released Simplemente Lo Mejor, a compilation album. This led to rumors that the labels were in a contest to capture Arjona's fanbase and sales. Simplemente Lo Mejor's collection of hits from previous albums, including Sin Daos a Terceros, Si El Norte Fuera El Survive, among others. In Mexico, this collection gained Gold and Platinum in Argentina, while in Argentina, where it went Platinum. "Sin Ti... Sin Mi" was released as 5to Piso's second single and landed at No. 8. Both Top Latin Songs and Latin Pop Songs charts are ranked #4 on both the Top Latin Songs and Latin Pop Songs charts. Arjona began the Quinto Piso Tour on April 24, 2009. 123 shows took place in the United States, Spain, Argentina, Guatemala, Colombia, Venezuela, Venezuela, and Mexico, among many other Latin America nations, and the tour came to an end on June 2010.

The Quinto Piso Tour was one of the most popular tours for a Latin artist, with more than 100,000 visitors from 19 countries. In 2010, he was named "Latin Tour of the Year" by Billboard Latin Music Award for the tour. He appeared at the 2010 Via del Mar International Song Festival on February 26, 2010, as one of the top performers. Fanny Lu, a Colombian singer, was next to him in his setback. A 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck Chile's south-central region just one hour after Lu's appearance. Arjona was jokingly blamed on social media, with remarks like "earthquakes go where he goes" referring also to the Mexico earthquake that occurred shortly after the singer appeared. Arjona announced his twelfth studio album, Poppy Ropa, on September 24, 2010, which was out on August 24, 2010. It was preceded by the genre-mixing album "Puente," an ode to Havana, Cuba's largest and capital city. According to reports, the song was unable to crack into the top of Billboard charts, and it was also banned in Cuba. The album was his third or debut to No. 1 on the charts. On the top Latin Albums chart, number 1 stands out. Within two weeks of its debut, the album received Gold certification in Chile, United States, Colombia, and Puerto Rico; and Platinum certification in Mexico and Argentina.

Arjona's sound changed with the album, which he described as a "stripped-down version" of his music. Birchmeier gave the album a somewhat positive review, saying that it was a "stripped-down acoustic attempt" but that it was nevertheless "impressive." Poquita Ropa's "Vivida," a tribute to the singer's recently deceased father; and "Marta," an autobiographical song whose music video stars Edith González, were among the new singles released. Both lead singles, as well as the lead single, failed to gain much airplay in the United States and charted poorly.

On October 4, 2011, Arjona's thirteenth studio album, Inclusione, was released. It was his fourth top Latin Albums chart for the week ending in October 22nd, 2011; and Platinum in Venezuela and Argentina. Intimiente was his first appearance as an independent artist on his Metamorfosis label, a brand he created to refocus his attention. Warner released the album. Although other companies have decided to go solo after collaborating with major record companies, Billboard said Arjona was by far the most influential artist in Latin pop to do so. The album has sold more than 500,000 copies in the United States and 4,000,000 copies worldwide by the end of 2012.

In August 2011, "El Amor" became Independiente's lead single, and it reached the top both the US Latin Songs and Latin Pop Songs charts. In Latin America, it also became a hit, with many countries ranked as the No. 1 in many countries. In February 2013, "Fuiste T" a collaboration with Guatemalan singer Gaby Moreno, debuted as the second single on the Latin Songs chart and debuted in top 10 and topped the Latin Pop Songs charts. "Mi Novia Se Me Esta Vieja" came out on May, Arjona's music video was released. However, "Te Quiero" was released as the third single from the album in July 2012, and it became the second song off the album to top the Latin Songs chart. On this chart, Independiente Arjona's first album to ever have two number-one hits. The song also topped the Latin Pop Songs chart, making it the third song off the album to do so. In November 2012, "Si Tu Existeras" was released and remained at number 14 in Mexico.

Arjona went on the Metamorfosis World Tour to promote the album. Five legs appeared throughout North and Latin America, his first since the Quinto Piso Tour in 2009 featured five legs. It ran from January 2012 to March 2013 in 18 countries, with 102 shows in 18 countries, with an estimated attendance of over one million people. The tour began in Toluca, where he had started all of his concert tours, and the country's gross sales exceeded $13.4 million.

Arjona's Blanco y Negro, a 25-date North America tour, began in September 2021. The tour, presented by Loud and Live, will begin in Albuquerque on March 24, 2022, and in San Juan on June 11, 2022, Coliseo de Puerto Rico.
