Career
Hamlet at Theatr Clwyd, A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Regent's Park Theatre, and Under Milk Wood and Volpone at the National Theatre were among Ifans' early stage performances. In 2003, he appeared at the Donmar Warehouse as part of the Accidental Death of an Anarchist. In 2006, he returned to Soho in Michael Grandage's production Don Juan. Ifans appeared in Deborah Warner's production of King Lear in 2016, they appeared as Fools alongside Glenda Jackson. In Matthew Warchus' production of A Christmas Carol (adapted by Jack Thorne), he returned to The Old Vic to play King Berenger and in Patrick Marber's latest interpretation of Eugene Ionesco's Exit the King. Ifans was given the role of Atticus Finch in Aaron Sorkin's To Kill A Mockingbird to open in London's Gielgud Theatre on May 21, 2020. Before embarking on his film career, Ifans appeared on many Welsh-language television shows, including the comedy show Pobol y Chyff, as well as appearing at the National Theatre, London, and Manchester's Royal Exchange.
