Rebecca Jo Budig (born June 26, 1973) is an American actress and television host.

Michelle Bauer appeared on the CBS soap opera Guiding Light in 1993, and she appeared on the CBS soap opera Guiding Light in 1995.

On ABC soap opera All My Children, she appeared as Greenlee Smythe in 1999; she stayed on the role until the network's final in 2011.

She appeared in Hayden Barnes' role on GM in 2015.

Budig appeared on Los Angeles' Finest as the villainous Carlene Hart.

Early life and education

Budig was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, the niece of Mary Jo Jo, a homemaker, and George Budig, a businessman. She was born in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. She graduated from the Cincinnati Public Schools School for Performing Arts (SCPA) in Cincinnati, Ohio, and later moved on to a major in zoology at Miami University. Budig went to Los Angeles, California, in 1993 to pursue an acting career. Howard Fine and Jay Goldenberg, acting consultants, began training with her mentors Howard Fine and Jay Goldenberg at the Howard Fine Acting Studio and at the Young Actors Space, respectively.

Personal life

Budig is the youngest of eight children. She has five sisters and two brothers. Budig married Dr. Daniel Geller in 2000, but the relationship only lasted a few months.

When hosting the Bachelor repeat shows on ABC Family, she met former Bachelor actor Bob Guiney. On July 3, 2004, the two were married. Budig and Guiney had decided to separate, according to People magazine on January 13, 2010, with Budig filing for divorce in April 2010.

On Christmas Day in 2010, Budig engaged television marketer Michael Benson. In 2012, the pair married. Budig revealed on May 1, 2014, she was five months pregnant with the couple's first child. Budig gave birth to a daughter on September 8, 2014.

Budig's first acting appearance was in Aerosmith's "Life on the Edge." In Batman Forever, she appeared in a cameo role as a teenage girl saved by Chris O'Donnell's character Dick Grayson.

Budig auditioned for the role of Kelsey Jefferson on All My Children in 1995, but Guiding Light, where she began her three-year tenure as Michelle Bauer from 1995 to 1998, rejected her.

In 1995, Budig played Patty in Captain Nuke and the Bomber Boys. She then played Babsy in the 1996 film God's Lonely Man, and James Dean's A Race with Destiny, where she appeared as Natalie Wood and Bonehead Detectives in the Paleo World where she appeared in Allie. Both films were released in 1997.

Greenlee Smythe, the spoiled, wealthy girl-turned-makeup executive who appeared on All My Children, has been Budig's most well-known role, since she first appeared on August 11, 1999. Greenlee was supposed to be a recurring job, but executives loved Budig and gave her a three-year contract. Budig's appearance on All My Children received accolades from fans and journalists, as well as her character's relationship with Josh Duhamel's Leo du Pres. In 2001 and again in 2003, she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Later, although rumors of Budig's demise had circulated, she revealed in October 2008 that she would not be returning to the series in February 2009. Budig cited the reason for her departure as the desire to return to the West Coast to be with her husband. Budig returned to 'All My Children' in late December 2009 (when the show was relocated to Los Angeles) and remained with the series until its series finale in September 2011.

Budig appeared in the ABC show Skating with the Stars' first and only season in 2010. Celebrities were mixed with professional ice skaters who competed each week. She began co-hosting the syndicated lifestyle television show Better in September 2013, alongside JD Roberto. Janeane Garofalo appeared in the comedic film Bad Parents in 2012. Budig had been cast on a mysterious "killer" role on GM in February 2015. Hayden Barnes debuted on March 20, 2015. Budig had been let go from General Hospital on June 27, 2017, according to her, it was a "storyline imperative." Hayden Barnes, who appeared on General Hospital on May 9, 2019, was confirmed to reprise her role. Budig would return in July, according to the show's final moments from the July 8, 2019 episode.
