Raymond Cruz Life

Raymond Cruz (born July 9, 1961) is an American actor best known for his role as Detective Julio Sanchez in the film The Closer and his recurring appearance as the drug lord Tuco Salamanca in the crime drama Breaking Bad and its spin-off Better Call Saul.

He appeared on the show Major Crimes, a spinoff of The Closer, reprising Sanchez's role.

Early life

Cruz was born in Los Angeles and attended East Los Angeles College. He is of Mexican descent and grew up in East Los Angeles, a neighborhood that regularly saw gangs, and has relatives who belong to Maravilla and Barrio South Gate, which are both Mexican gangs. Cruz said in an interview with The Daily Beast that he saw someone shot in front of him when he was 12 years old, adding that "his brains came out the back of his head." He was able to relate to his portrayal of Tuco Salamanca because he was exposed to methamphetamine use in his youth.

Cruz said that becoming involved in American literature early in life helped him avoid joining such gangs. Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird is his favorite book.

Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul reprise Breaking Bad roles for HILARIOUS PopCorners Super Bowl ad

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 6, 2023
For a new PopCorners Super Bowl LVII commercial, Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston resurrecting their legendary Breaking Bad characters. Paul, the 43-year-old actor, was back to form as Jesse Pinkman, while Walter White, 66-year-old Cranston, was channeled once more for the minute-long commercial that aired during Sunday's big game. Raymond Cruz - who played drug lord Tuco Salamanca - was not the only familiar faces from the highly popular AMC series, but they weren't the only familiar faces from the film as a result. Jesse was seen checking out the 'bomb' creation that Walter had just made up when the clip began. Walter compared methamphetamine to Jesse's making the drug in the program as Jesse enthusiastically approved the treatment: 'Actually, Jesse, it's just basic ingredients,' Jesse said. No, we don't eat our own produce.'
