Raline Rahmat Shah (born March 4, 1985) is an Indonesian actress.

She began her career in entertainment and is best known as one of Puteri Indonesia's 2008 finalists.

She became well-known in Malaysia for her role in Polis Evo 2, the Malaysian martial film Polis Evo 2 (also known as Police Evo in Indonesia).

Personal life

Raline is a frequent traveler and believes in "a world without strangers." She is well-known for her love of nature and hiking, which began with her first film, 5 cm, which featured her character's ascension to Mount Semeru, Indonesia's highest peak and one of the most difficult climbs. She has also scaled the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Raline is using her celebrity to remind her followers to respect nature and to keep the paths clean when hiking.

Raline is also passionate about physical and spiritual wellbeing. During her interview with Daniel Mananta, Raline said, "Allah wants every one to be well, and we should find meaning behind the disease by assisting others who are not well." She regularly practices meditation, yoga, and detox therapies, finding them not to be in accordance with her religious faith but rather complementary.

Life and career

Raline was born in Jakarta on March 4, 1985 to her parents, Rahmat Shah and Roseline Abu. Rollin and Rollan are two younger siblings. Her father is an entrepreneur and served as a senator in Indonesia's Majelis Persi Yatra (People's Consultative Assembly), 1999 to 2004, and in Dewan Perfyarat Daerah (Regional Representative Council) from 2009 to 2014. Her mother has been a philanthropist who has been operating YPAC Medan (Yayasan Anak Cacat), a school for mentally and physically handicapped children since 2010. Her mother was also the President of Women's International Club in Medan from 2002 to 2004. Raline is widely related to her immediate family, and she often thinks of her grandmother as the love of her life.

Raline spent her youth in Jakarta and Medan before heading to Johor Bahru, Malaysia, in 1998. She attended Kolej Tuanku Jafar, a boarding school in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, where she served as a prefect. She produced two school plays, appeared in 3 musicals, and appeared in several theatre companies. In 2002 and 2003, she was given the Silver Youth International Award for her all-rounder achievements in sports, arts, and service to the community. She has also been named "Best Business Studies Academic Achievement Award" for O-level and A-Level results. She has also been given the Gold Duke of Edinburgh award for exploration, hiking, and social work.

She earned a B.A. in Political Science and New Media & Communication (Honour) in 2007 at National University of Singapore, where she studied political science. She appeared at the Singapore International Festival of Arts twice as a vocalist for NUS Jazz club and appeared twice at the Singapore International Festival of Arts. Sophie Shabrina and Vlady Nanlohy are related.

Raline served as a part-time model for Mannequin Studios from 2004 to 2008. She served in Paragon Medical's Public Relations Department from 2008 to 2011. She began working in mainstream Indonesia as one of the competing participants of Puteri Indonesia 2008, where she represented North Sumatra. She was chosen in the Top 5 and was given the title "Putri Favorit Indonesia" by popular vote.

Raline's acting debut came in 2012, when she appeared in her first film, 5 cm, directed by Rizal Mantovani. 5 cm is a book by Donny Dhirgantoro that was published in 2005 and tells the tale of five friends (Arial, Riani, Zafran, Ian, and Genta) as they sought to discover what true friendship is while scaling Mount Semeru, Java's highest peak. Raline played Riani, the only woman in the company characterized by her intelligence and zeal. The Indonesian public embraced the film, making it one of the year's highest grossing films with 2.40 million viewers and the 2013 Indonesian Film Festival honoured "Best Cinematography."

Raline has been active as a commercial and runway model since 2008, both within and outside Indonesia, and her good reputation and public image have enabled her to collaborate with numerous brands and fashion designers. During the United Kingdom's Fashion 4 Growth (F4D) program in New York in 2012 and 2013, she represented Cita Tenun Indonesia, an organisation committed to the preservation of traditional Indonesian weaving techniques and promoting Indonesian designers' international recognition. Diane von Furstenberg, the leading Belgian fashion designer, was also one of the South East Asian brand ambassadors for Diane von Furstenberg, who personally selected Raline herself.

In Surga Yang Tak Dirindukan (2015), Raline appeared alongside Laudya Bella and Fedi Nuril, winning "Best Supporting Female Role" at the 2015 Indonesian Film Festival and the 2016 Indonesia Box Office Movie Awards. "Kekasih di Surga" is also a soundtrack for the film.

In 2016, Raline began as an intern with Teater Garasi. Teater Garasi is a multi-disciplinary performance group based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, whose works and artists have been showcased in Singapore, Berlin, Tokyo, Shizuoka, Osaka, New York, and Amsterdam, as a result of the international performing arts festival.

In July 2017, she released "Jadi Milikku," a tribute to Marcell. In the Malaysian action film Polis Evo 2, directed by Ghaz Abu Bakar, she appears in 2018 as a main cast with Shaheizy Sam and Zizan Razak.
