Prince Royce Career

Career

Royce had begun making music with a partner named José Chusán, also known as "Jino" at age 15. The pair was also known as "Jino and Royce, El Do Real" before they were introduced. Royce began making music with longtime friend and record producer Donzell Rodrrazipe & Vinny, and Vincent Outerbridge, together known as "L Snipe & Vinny" at the age of sixteen. In early 2007, the pair had a meeting with Atlantic Records. With the demise of reggaeton music in the Latin music market at the time, Royce made the brave decision to concentrate on bachata music. Royce's Hidalgo, who saw his demos straight away, became his boss straight away. Hidalgo began assisting Royce in handling bachata music with a hands-on approach. That was the turning point for Royce's decision that he wanted to pursue a musical career. After listening to three of his demos, Hidalgo's Royce was sold to record producer Sergio George, who immediately signed Royce to his company, Top Stop Music.

On March 2, 2010, Royce's eponymous debut studio album was released. The album was mainly produced by Hidalgo and Sergio George, with occasional co-production duties by Royce. Jason Birchmeier of AllMusic praised Hidalgo for the "crisp production job" (which is often lacking, but it does have hints of urban beats here and there). The album debuted on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart at number fifteen just shy of its debut on the first day. "Stand by Me," Ben E. King's 1961 song, climbed to number one on the US Billboard Tropical Songs chart, and it also climbed to number eight on the US Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. "Corazón Sin Cara," the album's second single, was released in February 2010 and debuted at number one on both the US Hot Latin Songs and Tropical Songs charts. The album's predecessor, The American Billboard Latin Albums chart, debuted at number one on the US Billboard Latin Albums chart, and the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has certified it double platinum (RIAA). In December 2010, Royce released "El Campo de los Sueos," which was used as the theme song for American television sports network ESPN in its 2010 season.

At the Latin Grammy Awards of 2011, Royce received a nomination for Best Contemporary Tropical Album. Royce performed "Stand by Me" alongside the song's original performer Ben E. King at the awards ceremony. Royce received three accolades in the Tropical category, including Male Artist of the Year, New Soloist, or Group of the Year, as well as Song of the Year for "Stand by Me" at the 2011 Premio Lo Nuestro Awards. At the 2011 Latin Billboard Music Awards, Royce was also nominated for six awards. In the end, he took home three of them: Tropical Airplay Solo Artist of the Year, Tropical Album of the Year for Prince Royce, and Tropical Albums Solo Artist of the Year. Royce collaborated with Puerto Rican reggaeton artist Daddy Yankee on the album "Ven Conmigo," which was included on the latter's album, Prestige (2012). The album debuted on the US Hot Latin Songs chart, peaking at number nine. In May 2011, Royce in a joint venture with the Top Stop Music label decided to release English-language albums. Royce continued to work on his second studio album, which was mainly in English with Latin music influences. Enrique Iglesias, a Spanish pop star, revealed in late September that Royce and American rapper Pitbull would be among special guests at a concert leg of his Euphoria Tour, which began in mid-September 2011. In October, Mexican rock band Maná reimagined their song "El Verdadero Amor Perdona" into a bachata version with Royce as a featured artist. The album, which was released as part of the band's "Mega Y Luz" compilation in late 2011, became Royce's second best-one single on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart in late 2011, becoming the band's second highest-ranked single on the charts.

Prince Royce's second studio album, Phase II, was released on April 10, 2012. The 13-track album showcased a variety of musical styles, from bachata to mariachi. The album featured songs in both English and Spanish, as well as melodies that were not common to traditional bachata music. "Las Cosas Pequeas" debuted at number one on the Billboard Tropical Songs chart, and after that, it became number one on the Billboard Latin Songs chart. Royce attended four autograph signing events in the United States this week during Phase II's release. His appearance at a f.y.e. The location in Chicago broke the attendance record for the most people attending an in-store music festival. He was named one of People en Espaol's "Sexiest Men Alive" later this year. In the United States six months after its debut, Royce's second album was certified platinum. At the Latin Grammy Awards of 2012, it was later named for Best Tropical Fusion Album, making Royce a three-time Latin Grammy nominee.

Royce's company decided to release a collection of his hits so far, titled #1's, on November 19, 2012, and debuted at number three on the Billboard Latin Albums chart in November 2012. "Stand by Me," "Corazon Sin Cara," "Las Cosas Pequeas," "Incondicional," and "Te Me Vas" are among the songs on the album. It reached number three on the Billboard Latin Albums chart and was named platinum by the RIAA. At the 2014 Latin Billboard Music Awards, the album was later named Tropical Album of the Year.

In April 2013, it was announced that Royce had signed a record deal with Sony Music Entertainment to record his third Spanish-language studio album under Sony Music Entertainment and his first English-language recording under RCA Records. This followed the fizzled link between Royce and Top Stop, which culminated in two lawsuits, in which Royce was sued for breach of contract. "We are thrilled to collaborate with such a dynamic Latin artist on his first English album," Peter Edge, the CEO of RCA Records, said in a tweet. Prince Royce's early successes have paved the way for the next generation of Latin music, and we're eager to partner with Sony Music Latin to truly maximize his music and career." Royce was named BMI Latin Songwriter of the Year in the same year. Royce was also one of the three coaches on Telemundo's La Voz Kids, a singing competition for children aged 7 to 15, who received a $50,000 reward for their education. He was the winning coach for the first season with his teammate Paola Guanche, and then with Amanda Mena in the second season. Daddy Yankee was recalled for season three.

"Darte un Beso," Royce's lead single from the upcoming studio album, was released on July 15, 2013. It appeared on several Latin charts and was rated three times platinum in the Latin field. Soy el Mismo, his third album, was released on October 8, 2013, and it ranked at number fourteen on the Billboard 200. At the Latin Grammy Awards of 2014, Royce received his second nomination for Best Contemporary Tropical Album. He was then nominated for three accolades at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, for Best Latin Artist, Top Latin Album for Soy el Mismo, and Top Latin Song for "Darte un Beso." At the 2014 Latin Billboard Music Awards, the latter received the accolade for Streaming Song of the Year.

Royce and Brazilian musician Michel Teló produced a Portuguese-language version of "Darte Un Beso" in April 2014 under the heading "Te Dar um Beijo." Royce released "Stuck on a Feeling" starring Snoop Dogg as the first single from his fourth studio album, Double Vision, on November 24, 2014. The single is Royce's highest-performing single in the United States to date, achieving number forty-three on the Billboard Hot 100. He contributed the song "My Angel" to the soundtrack album for Furious 7 (2015), which was released in early 2015. Royce released "Qué Cosas Tiene el Amor," a co-lead single with Dominican Republic singer Anthony Santos, on March 24, 2015. It was revealed in March 2015 that Royce would appear on Ariana Grande's The Honeymoon Tour as the opening act for 40 dates in the United States. Double Vision, Royce's first album in the English language, was released on July 24, 2015, only in the English language, followed by the album's second single, "Back It Up," starring Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull, which was released in May 2015. The single debuted at number ten on the US Latin Pop Songs chart and number ninety-two on the Billboard Hot 100, with number ten on the chart and number ninety-two. Royce's Spanish-language version of the song was nominated for the Latin Grammy Award for Best Urban Song, making him the eighth time Latin Grammy nominee for the Latin Grammy Award for Best Urban Song.

Royce's single "Culpa al Corazón" debuted in November 2015, at the time of his upcoming fifth studio album. Emeraude Toubia, a British actress who was first linked to Royce in January 2016, appeared in the single's music video, which was released in January 2016.

The single "Solo Yo" was released on January 29, 2016 as a vocal duet to Mexican singer Sofrey and Royce. The song received a nomination for Best Song of the Year at the Premios Lo Nuestro 2017 awards ceremony. "Nobody But Me," the English translation of "Solo Yo," was also released as a single on March 11, 2016. In the Fox Broadcasting Company's live musical performance of the Biblical story The Passion, On March 20, 2016, Royce appeared as Saint Peter. On the fourth season of Hulu's teen drama series East Los High, he appeared as dancing coach Vincent on several occasions. Royce embarked on Pitbull's The Bad Man Tour in July, a North American concert tour. Royce was one of approximately 27 artists to lend their voices to "Hands," a charity single released in honor of the victims of the Orlando nightclub shooting. All of the songs' proceeds went to the families that were affected by the shooting, as well as helping with medical expenses and counseling services.

Sony Music Latin released Five, Royce's fifth studio album, on February 24, 2017. The album featured collaborations with artists such as Shakira, Chris Brown, Zendaya, Farruko, Gerardo Ortz, Gente de Zona, and Arturo Sandoval. Although the album includes some lyrics in English, it was Royce's first mainly Spanish-language album since Soy el Mismo in 2013. The Billboard Top Latin Albums chart in the United States debuted five albums by Royce's fourth top-one album. "La Cartela," "Ganas Locas," and "Déjà Vu" were released between 2016 and 2017. The Recording Industry Association of America's (RIAA) in the United States named this album as the country's most influential commercially, with a score of 9th Platinum (Latin).

In late 2017, Royce also released two new singles after Five's promotion ended. The first was "100 A.Os," a collaboration with the American musical duo Ha*Ash. The song debuted as the first single from the duo's fifth studio album "30 de Febrero (2017)." Royce appeared in "Sensualidad" alongside DJ Luian and Mambo Kingz, and rappers Bad Bunny and J Balvin, shortly after. On the US Hot Latin Songs chart, the single became a new top ten hit for Royce, where it peaked at number eight.

Alter Ego, Royce's sixth studio album, as a result of his forthcoming sixth studio album, has released various singles and collaborated with a number of other artists in 2018 and 2019. "Bubal," a new collaboration between Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA and American singer Becky G., was one of his most popular albums during this period.

Royce appeared in Pitbull's "I Believe That We Will Win (World Anthem)" official music video, in which all proceeds from the artist's streaming and viewing proceeds are donated to Feeding America and the Anthony Robbins Foundation as relief to those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Carita de Inocente," one of the album's top-most 29 weeks, spent a record-breaking 29 weeks at number one on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart.
