Career

Friar made her television debut in Wilhelmina in 2001, including Macbeth at the Gielgud Theatre, Jane Banks in Mary Poppins at The Prince Edward Theatre and Louisa. Friar voiced June in the British version of the animated film Little Einsteins from 2005 to 2009. Friar appeared Hannah in the BBC television film Dustbin Baby, which was based on Jacqueline Wilson's 2001 book of the same name. Sophie Moorhead appeared in two ITV shows; an episode of The Bill starring Kelli Sutton; and two episodes of A Touch Of Frost as Sophie Moorhead. Friar appeared in the ITV drama Mr Selfridge as Rosalie Selfridge from 2013 to 2014. Friar appeared in the CBBC's sci-fi film Eve between 2015 and 2017. In the film My Cousin Rachel, Friar played Mary Pascoe in 2017.

Friar had been cast as series regular Missy Booth in Channel 4's Ackley Bridge, for which she received critical acclaim and an RTS award in her time on the series. In the ITV television film Torvill & Dean, Jayne Torvill portrayed her in 2018. Lydia appeared on the BBC Three's special In My Skin, again in 2018. A full television series had been ordered later this year, with Friar repriseing her role as Lydia for two new series. Missy, the Friar's Ackley Bridge character, dies in previously unannounced scenes in an episode that was airborne on Sunday, June 25th. This was written in response to Friar's departure from film In My Skin. It was revealed that she would be starring in BBC Three's 2022 television film Life and Death in the Warehouse, following In My Skin's conclusion. Friar is also expected to star in the forthcoming BBC television film My Name Is Leon, as well as playing Mayella Ewell in a production of To Kill a Mockingbird, which will be on display at the Gielt Theatre in 2022.
