For the first time today, one of the two guys who was charged with allegedly killing and stuffing a man's body into a barrel along Malibu Beach appeared in court for the first time. Joshua Lee Simmons, 32, was arrested by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Office and charged with Javonnta Murphy's murder, who was fatally wounded before his body was shot inside a 55-gallon plastic drum and left in the sea, according to authorities. Simmons is shown in court by exclusive photographs obtained by DailyMail.com. He pleaded not guilty and his bail was set at $3,500,000. The drum was first seen floating in the sea along the Pacific Coast Highway bridge on July 30 by Sanitation workers. Murphy, on the other hand, was only discovered dead the next day after lifeguards swam to retrieve it and discovered it was weight.

On the one-year anniversary of his death on Wednesday, late musician Takeoff was honored by his Migos bandmates Offset and Quavo. Takeoff, full name Kirsnick Khari Ball, died in a shooting outside of the 810 Billiards & Bowling facility in Houston on November 1, 2022; a killer named Patrick Xavier Clark was charged in May with murder in connection with the deadly shooting, and he's set to return to court early next year.

Javonnta Murphy, 32, may have been killed in retaliation for rapper Pop Smoke's murder in 2020, according to Los Angeles cops. Murphy's naked remains were discovered last week in a Malibu beach stuffed inside a barrel. Jaquan's older brother was arrested in the assassination of the rapper, but he was later found not guilty of any wrongdoing.
