Pierre Gasly (born 7 February 1996), a French racing driver who is currently competing in Formula One for Scuderia Toro Rosso, is a French racing driver who is currently competing in Formula One.

He was the 2016 GP2 Series champion and runner-up in the 2014 Formula Renault 3.5 Series and the 2017 Super Formula Championship.

At the 2017 Malaysian Grand Prix, he made his Formula One debut with Toro Rosso.

He began with Red Bull Racing in 2019, before swapping places with Alexander Albon from Toro Rosso in the Hungarian and Belgian rounds.

Personal life

Gasly, a French entrepreneur, was born in Rouen, France, to father Jean Jacques Gasly and mother Pascale Gasly, who is the youngest brother in the family's four sons, two maternal from his mother's previous marriage, Nicolas Caron and Cyril Caron; as well as two paternal from his father's previous marriages, Phillipe Gasly and Paul Gasly.

Gasly's family has long been involved in motorsports. His grandfather, John Jacques, was an kart champion, and his father Jean Jacques has competed in many sports, including karting, endurance racing, and rallying. His father stopped rallying after his co-driver made a mistake in reading the pace note. Gasly first tried karting at a local karting track in Anneville-Ambourville at the age of six. He was 13 years old when he left Rouen for Le Mans after committing to competitive racing.

Gasly grew up alongside Anthoine Hubert, karting with him since the age of seven, being educated in the same private academy and living as roommates for several years. Pierre Gasly Career

Early career

Gasly began competitive karting in 2006 at the age of ten, finishing fifteenth in the French Minime Championship before finishing fourth the following year. He gained acclaim in 2008 with his appearance at the French Cadet Championship before moving to the international stage in 2009. He entered the KF3 class, remaining until the end of 2010 when he finished as runner-up in the CIK-FIA European Championships.

Gasly made his debut in single-seaters in 2011 when he competed in the French F4 Championship 1.6-litre class. He came in third, behind Matthieu Vassivière and Andrea Pizzitola in third place, with seven podiums, including victories at Spa, Albi, and Le Castellet.

In 2012, gasly converted to the 2-litre Formula Renault machines, debuting R-Ace GP in the Formula Renault Eurocup. He came in tenth with six point-scoring finishes, including podiums at Spa and the Nürburgring. He made seven appearances in the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup with the same team, as well as a podium at the Nürburgring.

Gasly has shifted to Tech 1 Racing in 2013. He earned five podiums, as well as victories at Moscow, the Hungaroring, and Le Castellet. Into the final meeting of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, he had an eleven-point lead over Oliver Rowland, who clinched the championship with third and sixth place finishes, the latter result coming following a collision with Rowland that resulted in a drive-through penalty.

In 2014, the driver made the switch to Formula Renault 3.5 Series, where he was hired by Arden under the Red Bull Junior Team's growth program. He finished the season as the runner-up to another Red Bull Junior Carlos Sainz Jr., who won eight podiums in the seventeen races.

Gasly made his GP2 Series debut at Monza in 2014 in support of Italian Grand Prix, defeating Caterham Racing driver Tom Dillmann who had commitments with other racing series and was unable to attend GP2 Series races for the weekend. He took part in post-season testing, racing for DAMS, and then joined the French team to compete alongside British driver Alex Lynn, the team's development driver. Despite three pole positions and four podiums, Gasly had an uneven season, with him causing accidents in Bahrain, Spa, and Yas Marina (which resulted in the subsequent race being called off), putting him second, two places behind teammate Lynn.

Gasly will switch to Prema Powerteam, the 2015 European Formula 3 champion and GP2 rookie Antonio Giovinazzi for 2016. He'll continue to be the GP2 Series champion of the season.

Lewis Hamilton's second fruitless career with Mercedes, but Sky Bet has tipped him to finish in the top three alongside Carlos Sainz in the Brazilian Grand Prix Sprint Race, with odds boosted to 7/2. Hamilton and Mercedes haven't won a regular race since 2023, dominated by Max Verstappen and Red Bull, who have claimed multiple awards. So far this season, Verstappen has only three sprints, with colleague Sergio Perez taking another as Christian Horner's team controlled the pace in both the shootouts and Grands Prix.
