Phill Lewis (born February 14, 1968) is an American actor, comedian, and producer best known for his role as Mr. Moseby in the Disney Channel series The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and its spin-off, The Suite Life on Deck.

Lewis has appeared in films including Lizzie McGuire, Friends, The Wayans Bros, Scrubs, and How I Met Your Mother.

Early life

Lewis was born in Uganda on February 14, 1968, to American parents. Delano Lewis, his father, served as the Peace Corps' associate director and country director for Nigeria and Uganda at the time, and he will later serve as the US Ambassador to South Africa. Lewis has three brothers.

Personal life

Lewis was arrested in late December 1991 after he fatally struck Isabel Duarte, a Bethesda, Maryland resident, in a car accident. He was charged with murderer and driving while inebriated. At the time, his blood alcohol level was three times higher than the threshold for legal intoxication. Lewis was sentenced to five years in prison, but four others were suspended after his time with a jail-based theater troupe that appeared in jails, schools, and churches to show the dangers of opioid use. Since being released and doing 350 hours of community service, Lewis was also sentenced to two years of probation.

Lewis is married to Megan Benton Lewis and has two children.

Career

Dennis Lewis made his film debut in the 1988 dark comedy Heathers. He appeared in the lead role of the short-lived CBS sitcom Teech in 1991. After thirteen episodes, the series was cancelled. He has appeared in smaller films, including City Slickers (1991), Bowfinger (1999), Surviving Christmas (2004), Kicking & Screaming (2005), and Beverly Hills Chihua 2 (2011). He has appeared on several television shows, including Sister Sister, Pacific Blue, JAG, Ally McBeal, Joan of Arcadia, Brothers & Sisters, 8 Simple Rules, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Friends, and How I Met Your Mother. Lewis has appeared on A Different World, The Wayans Bros., Lizzie McGuire, Yes, Dear, Scrubs, and Raising Hope.

Lewis appeared in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody as Mr. Moseby, a Disney Channel original series. He had reprised his role on a spin-off The Suite Life on Deck, where he plays the boss of The S.S. Tipton. He has appeared on Disney Channel's That's So Raven and Phineas Ferb, as well as in one of the channel's original films, Dadnapped. Agent Wolfie's voice on the children's program Special Agent Oso.

He produced eight episodes of The Suite Life on Deck, first making his directorial debut with the 2007 episode "I Want My Mummy." He has since moved to direct episodes of the Disney Channel sitcoms A.N.T. Good Luck Charlie, Hannah Montana, Kickin' It and Jessie, Austin and Ally. In addition, he has produced several episodes of Nickelodeon sitcoms, including Big Time Rush, Henry Danger, Danger Force, and iCarly (both the original show and the revival series on Paraphrasedoutput). Mr. & Molly, 2 Broke Girls, Mr. Iglesias, Melissa & Joey, One Day at a Time, and Indebted are among his television directing credits. In addition, he produced the live episode of Undateable in 2015, which culminated in the series's third season.

One Day at a Time (2017 to 2019) Lewis directed fifteen episodes of Netflix's One Day at a Time.
