Early life
Meller was born in Paris, France, and when she was 11, she moved to Tel Aviv. Meller's mother is French, her father is Polish, and she has one sibling. As she grew up, she divided her time between Israel and Paris, where she will remain with her grandmother.
Meller grew up listening to jazz and African artists such as Fela Kuti. It was the first time she appeared onstage at a summertime Club Med competition in the south of France, where she came second and received a pink milkshake. Meller used to write songs and record them on a tape deck when she was a child. Meller and a boy, Meller's seventh year of dating, recorded a song together in a toilet to capture the water's sounds.
Personal life
Meller studied postgraduate philosophy at Sorbonne in Paris and University of Tel Aviv, where her dissertation was about the sublime and psychosis, inspired by Schiller and Kant's work. She undertook a Ph.D. in philosophy at UCLA, which she said helps her to find how everything influences her lyrics about death and psychosis.
Meller believes in essive experiences based on the universe's help. She recalled many people who she has encountered at the right time in coincidental situations. One such individual was her boss who was trying to find the local time in New York on the internet, but instead found herself watching her show on NYC Time. He escorted her, relocated her to London, and helped her land a record deal with Island.
Meller's age was unknown in a September 2016 article in The Financial Times, however The Evening Standard pointed to a video of Meller performing in 2007 with Terry Poison, which would have made her just 12 years old at the time, which caused some confusion. Mellers' birthday is July 14th, but she continues to keep her year of birth a mystery.
Meller now lives in Los Angeles and is devoted to collecting pink vinyl records.
