Peter Strauss Life

Peter Lawrence Strauss (born February 20, 1947) is an American television and film actor best known for his appearances in several television miniseries in the 1970s and 1980s.

Early life

Strauss was born in Croton-on-Hudson, New York, the son of Warren B. Strauss, a German-born wine importer. His family was Jewish. Strauss graduated from both the Hackley School and Northwestern University in 1969.

Personal life

Strauss married Rachel Ticotin on December 31, 1998. Strauss owns a fruit growing company and is on the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden's advisory board. He sold a ranch property to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy. The Peter Strauss Ranch has since been owned by the National Park Service as the Peter Strauss Ranch.

Career

He received an Emmy Award for his contribution to the 1979 made-for-television film The Jericho Mile, as well as a 1981 television adaptation of Angel on My Shoulder. He appeared in the miniseries Kane & Abel based on Jeffrey Archer's book in 1985. Several of his other notable television miniseries credits include roles in Rich Man, Poor Man, its sequel Rich Man, Poor Man Book II, and Masada. In the 1977 television film Young Joe, the Forgotten Kennedy, Strauss played Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. In 1973, Stephen Linder, Mary Richards' suave younger brother, appeared in "Angels in the Snow," the Mary Tyler Moore Show fourth-season episode.

Strauss appeared in Soldier Blue (1970) and Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (1983), and he has appeared in several others. In 1982's The Secret of NIMH, he portrayed Justin, the Rats of NIMH's captain of the Guard. Strauss appeared in the television film Men Don't Tell, alongside Judith Lights as an abused husband. In 2005, he appeared in the dramatic XX: State of the Union, alongside Ice Cube, Samuel L. Jackson, Scott Speedman, and Willem Dafoe. Moses was the voice of Moses in the animated series K10C: Kids' Ten Commandments. Dr. Isaac Braun appeared in the short-lived series Body & Soul as Dr. Isaac Braun in 2002. In both the 1990s and 2006 versions of Biker Mice from Mars, Stoker Van Rotten appeared.
