Career

Bennett was chosen as one of the original 14 housemates for the seventh series in 2006. He gained the contest with 62% of the final vote.

Some observers, who believed that the show was exploiting his Tourette's syndrome, were outraged. The Tourette Syndrome Association (TSA) first expressed fear that those with the disorder would be mocked, but later changed course. According to a TSA representative, the series "has put Tourette's on the map."

In 2006, Bennett was nominated for a National Television Award for "Most Popular TV Contender," but later that year, Nikki Grahame was praised for a National Television Award for "Most Popular TV Contender."

Pete: My Life, Bennett's autobiography was published in hardback in November 2006 and reissued in paperback in 2007 as My Journey With Tourettes.

Bennett was also the lead singer in a band called Daddy Fantastic, but the band broke after deciding with a record company that he wanted to become a solo artist. Guy Chambers, a songwriter and record producer, later wrote music. Bennett went on to form Pete Bennett and the Love Dogs, which appeared at Glastonbury and other venues such as IndigO2 and The Cavern Club, which performed at IndigO2 and IndigO2.

In 2013, he appeared in the pilot episode of GIFTED.
