Peggy Stewart (born Peggy O'Rourke; June 5, 1923 – May 29, 2019) was an American actress best known for her appearances in Western B movies and television series.
Early life
Stewart was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, where she was raised, John Francis O'Rourke and Frances Velma (McCampbell) Splane's daughter, and her sister were born in Bessemer, Alabama. She established herself as a swimming champion in high school, and her family migrated to California in the 1930s, where she met character actor Henry O'Neill. He recommended that she be hired by Paramount Pictures executives who were searching for a new actress for Joel McCrea's teenage daughter in Wells Fargo (1937). Her role in the film led to several other film roles.
Personal life
Stewart performed regularly at Western film festivals in her early years. Stewart appeared as a special guest at the annual Lone Pine Film Festival from 1993 to death.
Stewart has been married twice before. Don "Red" Barry, a 1940 actress, married actor Don "Red" Barry; their marriage ended in divorce in 1944. She was married to actor Buck Young from 1953 to his death on February 9, 2000.

Career
Stewart signed a deal with Republic Pictures in April 1944 and began acting in Western B movies opposite famous actors like Allan Lane, Sunset Carson, and Wild Bill Elliott. During those years, she appeared in many Adventures of Red Ryder episodes. She more often played the role of the sarcastic heroine than a passive child needing to be saved. She appeared in 35 films from 1944 to 1951, the majority of which were Westerns and film serials. During that time, she appeared with Gene Autry several times. In addition to appearing on several episodes of The Cisco Kid, including "Oil Land," which first aired on October 10, 1950, he also appeared on "Oil Land" and "Oil Land."
She appeared alongside Jim Bannon in Ride, Ryder, Ride in 1949. She appeared in The Fighting Redhead as the heroine to Bannon in 1949. In 1952, she appeared in Bill Elliott's Kansas Territory.
