Stalking: As victims make shocking allegations, activists file a super complaint against the police

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 25, 2022
A police officer told a woman to'engage with your stalker and plead for him to murder you' so they could detain him as victims lay bare shocking details about their care. It comes as campaigners filed a "deeply embedded systemic problem" in officers' responses to victims, prompting the assertion that there are "deep-rooted systemic causes" in their responses to victims. The Suzy Lamplugh Trust has published a study detailing what they believe to be a pattern of conduct across all police forces in England and Wales, which shows a'significant number' of victims are being allowed down 'at every step of their journey.' Campaigners also said there is a'strong connection to homocide in stalking cases that is not acknowledged', as seen in the recent cases of Gracie Spinks (left) and Yasmin Chkaifi (right). The statute was rewritten to make stalking a distinct offence in England and Wales today.

Isla Traquair who was 'terrorised' by stalker accuses police and court system of 'gaslighting' her

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 22, 2022
A former newsreader who was subjected to a 'campaign of vengeance' by her stalker neighbor has sued police and the court system for 'gaslighting' her by downplaying his behavior as a 'neighbourhood dispute'. Professional gardener Jonathan Barrett (right) said she was concerned more about her work as a crime journalist than she was 'confronting murderers,' according to former ITV News and Channel 5 News host Isla Traquair, 42. (left). Barrett avoided prison time, but was found guilty of stalking after a hearing heard he stared through her windows, monitored what she ate before coming into her house with a sandwich, and even 'chainsawed' bamboo fencing she had constructed to keep him out. Traquair, a journalist who appeared on BBC's Woman's Hour, accused police of treating it as a "neighbourhood feud" and the fear of not being recognized "didn't stop there" despite accusations she was 'gaslit' by the court (pictured inset, leaving the court).

Becky Godden's family has been apologizing by Wiltshire Police

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 2, 2022
Officers reported that they missed'significant opportunities' to bring her killer to justice sooner, according to deputy Chief Constable Paul Mills. Ms Godden was strangled in 2003, but her murder only became known after she was arrested for the abduction of Sian O'Callaghan, 22. Following the IOPC's criticism, Wiltshire Chief Constable Kier Pritchard has apologized to Ms Godden's family.
