Paul-Georges Ntep Career

Club career

Ntep was born in Douala, Cameroon's biggest city. At the age of eight, he and his aunt, who was housed in the commune of Grigny in southern Paris, went to France. He began his playing career at Ris Orangis and spent two years with the club. During his time with Ris Orangis, he participated in several trials with professional clubs, including Auxerre, but he was not signed. Ntep joined Viry-Chr's under-14 squad in 2005 and, after a year of playing with another amateur club (ESA Linas-Montlhéry), signed with CS Brétigny Foot, a French club that trained French internationals Patrice Evra and Jimmy Briand, a French international team. When training at Brétigny, Ntep impressed club coaches and officials, and in 2009, he was given a three-day trial with professional club Auxerre, with whom Brétigny shares a joint venture. He was accepted into a stagiaire (internship) deal after a fruitful trial.

With the club's under-18 team, Ntep started the 2009–10 season. He joined the club's reserve team in the Championnat de France amateur competition midway through the season. In 14 games for the team, scoring two goals, Ntep was present, he was in 14 matches. He started training with the senior team in the 2010-11 season. Ntep was also added to the team's roster to compete in the UEFA Champions League. In the team's 1–0 loss to Bordeaux on October 16, 2010, he made the bench. Ntep made his professional debut in a Coupe de la Ligue match against Bastia in the 31st minute for Dennis Oliech, a week later. Auxerre defeated the team 4–0.

Ntep joined Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais on a three-and-a-half year contract on January 30, 2014.

In January 2017, Ntep joined the German Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg in a 2021-based deal. Wolfsburg released Ntep on February 11, 2020.

On a season-long loan, Ntep joined Saint-Étienne on January 17, 2018.

On a season-long loan, Ntep joined Turkish club Kayserispor on August 25th.

Guingamp reported the signing of Ntep on a free transfer on May 13.

After a turbulent season in Ligue 2, Ntep's deal came to an end, allowing him to join Primeira Liga club Boavista after the regular transfer window is closed on September 4th, 2021 by the Porto team. With 19 appearances for Boavista and one goal, Ntep left the team at the end of the 2021-22 season.

International career

Despite the fact that Ntep was born in Cameroon, he is a French youth international who has played for the under-18 team in 2010. He was called by France U21 three years ago to participate in the Toulon Tournament.

He is eligible to play for either Cameroon or France at the senior level. Didier Deschamps, a coach, called Ntep to France's senior squad on May 24 to participate in friendlies against Belgium and Albania. In a 4–3 loss to Belgium on June 7, he made his debut on June 7th.

In August 2018, Ntep switched his allegiance to Cameroon and was selected for the match against Comoros in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification group B.
