Pavel "Pasha" Kovalev, born 19 January 1980, is a Russian professional Latin and ballroom dancer. Kovalev began dancing at the age of eight and in 2001, he and his choreographer Anya Garnis moved to the United States.
Both the couples appeared on the third season of So You Think You Can Dance in the United States, and they have since served as either choreographers or All-Star partners to the contestants. In 2011, Kovalev took to the United Kingdom to compete in Strictly Come Dancing as a professional dancer.
He won series twelve with his partner Caroline Flack after finishing runner-up on both the ninth and tenth series with celebrity partners Chelsee Healey and Kimberley Walsh.

In 2013, Kovalev began dating his ex Strictly companion Rachel Riley, and the pair now live in London. Riley and Kovalev announced on social media in May that they were expecting their first child in December. The couple wed in Las Vegas on June 28, 2019. Their daughter was born on December 15, 2019. On November 5, 2021, the couple welcomed their second daughter.
Early life and competitive career
He began dancing at the age of eight, and in Russia, he competed with his partner Anya Garnis in the Amateur Latin category until 2000.
Kovalev and Garnis became professional after heading to the United States, and Canada in 2002. They have been finalists in the US Open from 2002 to 2006.
