Park Cho-rong (born March 3, 1991), also known as Chorong, is a South Korean singer-songwriter and actress.
She is best known as the head of the South Korean girl group Apink.
Early life
Park Cho-rong was born in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, South Korea, on March 3, 1991. She is a middle child, with an older and a younger sister. Park, the niece of a Hapkido master and academy administrator, had been teaching the said martial art for eight years. She went from kindergarten through her third year in junior high; she is the holder of a third degree black belt. Park had attended Byungsul Kindergarten, Bukang Middle School, Bukang Middle High School, and Choongbook High School during her school days.
Park attended JYP Entertainment's fifth official audition in 2009, where she made it to the final round. However, she was eventually dismissed, and after that she joined Cube Entertainment as a trainee.
Career
Park was proclaimed as Apink's second member and chief in February 2011. She appeared in Beast's "Shock" Japanese version music video prior to revealing it. The group's pre-debut reality show, Apink, Park, was part of the group's debut in Apink, Park, along with the majority of the Apink team members. Apink's first single "Mollayo" debuted on April 19, 2011, and Park debuted as a member of Apink on Mnet's M! Countdown performed their songs "Mollayo" and "Wishlist" which were included on their debut EP Seven Springs of Apink.
Following the demise of Brown Eyed Girls' Gain, Park began her acting career by appearing on the 2010 sitcom All My Love as Chorong. She made a cameo appearance on Rep. 1997 as the teenage version of Lee Il-Hwa, the mother of the lead role Sung Shi-won (played by Jung Eun-ji) along with her fellow Apink member Yoon Bo-mi. Park appeared in the romantic comedy More Nine Boys as Han Soo-ah, a popular yet mysterious high-school girl, akin to BtoB's Yook Sungjae's character. Kim Min-kyu and VIXX's Hyuk appeared on Naver TV Cast's web drama Special Law of Romance in 2017.
