Paddy Boom (born Patrick Seacor on September 6, 1968) is an American professional drummer.
He was the original drummer in the Scissor Sisters, an American glam rock band.
Early life
Born in Singapore, he learned to drums, imitating Larry Mullen Jr.'s style by using curtain rods turned into drumsticks on his couch. He went on to other drummers and became a huge fan of Stewart Copeland from The Police.
Patrick studied advertising at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, where he met Bryan Hynes and Robert Brochu. The threesome formed the Sloane Rangers, a seminal indie art-rock band that appeared on New York's underground music scene for almost a decade. TSR released two albums "From The Beginning" and 1992's "Scram," the later produced by Mark Spencer, guitarist for Lisa Loeb, Freedy Johnston, and Blood Oranges. The Sloane Rangers (TSR) released two albums for Invert Records, an independent label founded by Stephen Struthers and Robert Sherman. A number of well-known bands were discovered outside of N.Y.C., according to Invert Records. Several Other Guys Men, and The Pleasantries.
After TSR, he played in many bands in New York and formed Boom Boom Records, a record store. He formed Faith, a tribute band for whom he drummed and sang backing vocals during the boom boom.
Paddy played professionally in New York for 15 years before he began to feel that his "shelf life was dangerously close to ending." He was looking for a new challenge and discovered Scissor Sisters.
He was, and still is, a huge U2 fan, and his aspiration came true when Scissor Sisters were asked to open for them on U2's 2005 Vertigo tour. "I would have given up long before if it wasn't for the music," Paddy says when quoting the Beastie Boys.
Paddy had amicably parted with the Scissor Sisters after an absence from the band's live stream for 18 months.
