Ozuna Life

Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado (born March 13, 1992), also known as the "New King of Reggaeton"), is a Puerto Rican-Dominican rapper and reggaeton singer who is best known by his surname Ozuna.

He has recorded two hit albums, Odisea (2017) and Aura (2018), and since the start of his career, he has sold nearly 15 million albums, making him one of the best-selling Latin music artists of all time.

In Que León, he made his acting debut.

Ozuna is the artist with the most one billion-view videos on YouTube.

Early life

Ozuna was born in San Juan, Dominican father and a Puerto Rican mother. He grew up listening to Latin styles, such as salsa and bachata, which have influenced his musical style. Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, and Wisin y Yandel, who he refers to as "the authentic, true reggaeton," as well as fellow American hip-hop and R&B singer Jay-Z and Usher, were among his favorite reggaeton artists. He grew up poor and was mainly raised by his paternal grandmother, as shown in his album Odisea's eponymous opening track. Vico C, his father, a dancer for reggaeton, was fatally shot when Ozuna was three years old, but his mother was not financially stable enough to raise him.

In San Juan, Ozuna was raised in his grandmother's three-bedroom apartment built over a bodega. His grandmother instilled in him a strong Christian faith. Her faith revolved around the belief "that nothing is given to us," the idea that we must work for what we want...a pair of sneakers—we bought them with sacrifice. Simple stuff, such as a pencil and an eraser. To get it, we had to sweat in order to get it." He aspired to pursue a singing career at the age of 12. His uncle, who was a father figure after his father's death, gave him his first microphone in the same year. When his uncle listened to Daddy Yankee, Don Omar and De La Ghetto, the boy would rap along with the songs on the radio.

Ozuna started working at El Corozal, a local bar, where his earliest musical performances took place. In 2010, he moved to New York City's Washington Heights neighborhood to escape the violence and poverty of his neighborhood. While there, the artist learned how to produce and market his own music videos and even created his first video with a budget under US$100. However, he found Washington Heights to be equally brutal and impoverished as his hometown, and he and his wife and two children returned to Puerto Rico after three years in New York.

Personal life

Ozuna describes himself as a "typical boricua with Dominican blood." He is married to Taina Marie Meléndez, and the two children, Sofa and Jacob Andrés, are married. Ozuna is a collector of watches, a hobby that began when his grandmother gave him a Toy Story watch when he was a kid. He calls his watch collection his "most investment," and says he spent over $800,000 USD in 2017 alone.

Ozuna became the owner of the basketball team Baloncesto Nacional Superior de Puerto Rico on October 17, 2022 (BSN), a member of the Basketball National Superiority (BSN).

Ozuna regarded the single as his "big break" and credited Farruko and Arcángel with his ability to gain attention by naming them as featured artists.

Vicente Saavedra, the president of DV Entertainment/DimeloVi, and VP Entertainment/DimeloVi signed an agreement with Sony Music Latin in June 2017. The agreement included representation for all artists represented by Saavedra agencies, beginning with Ozuna's first studio album, Odisea, which was released on August 11. J Balvin, Zion & Lennox, and Nicky Jam were among the album's collaborations. Until the album's debut, Ozuna had eight singles charting simultaneously on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. Odisea's stay on the Billboard Latin Albums chart lasted 46 weeks, the second-longest run of all time after Gloria Estefan's Mi Tierra. The Odisea tour started in Atlanta on May 26, 2017 and featured more than 25 towns, including Chicago, Miami, Houston, and Los Angeles. With Ozuna visiting European cities and Latin America, it was renamed the Odisea World Tour later. Rolling Stone's Elias Leighton described the remix of "Te Boté" as "one of the most popular songs released this year in any genre," a hit in both old-fashioned radio and YouTube alike, as well as the warp-speed world. Ozuna released the single "La Modelo" with Cardi B. in December 2017. Following the introduction of the album, it debuted at number 52 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time, marking Ozuna's first appearance as a lead artist following his collaborations with Wisin's "Escópate Conmigo" and Natti Natasha's "Criminal," which put the song at number three on the Hot Latin Songs chart, where most of them reached number three.
