Career

Teale made his television debut in The Mimosa Boys in 1984 as "Maldak" in the Doctor Who serial Vengeance on Vain. In 1989, he made his film debut in War Requiem. He appeared in Knights of God (1989), Great Expectations (1989), and Boon (1990) before being cast as Will Scarlet in the 1991 film Robin Hood.

He went on to appear in films such as Dangerfield, Ballykissangel, The Thin Blue Line, and the long-running Belonging, as well as Spooks and Murphy's Law.

He appeared in the 1999 version of The Cherry Orchard, opposite Charlotte Rampling as Ranevskaya and Alan Bates as Gayev. In Conspiracy, he played infamous Nazi judge Roland Freisler. He appeared in Midsomer Murders and Lewis.

He appeared in Marian, Again, in which he was the abused husband of Harrison's eponymous character. He also narrated narration for "The Green Valley," one of several farm series he has produced for the BBC.

He appeared in the Torchwood episode "Countrycide" in 2006. He appeared in Tsunami: The Aftermath, a HBO UK TV film. He appeared in the Doctor Who audio drama The Mind's Eye in 2007. He appeared in The Last Legion in the same year. Ser Alliser Thorne appeared in Game of Thrones, George R. Martin's book series A Song of Ice and Fire, in 2011, renaming Derek Halligan at short notice. In Season 4, Season 5, and Season 6, he reprised his role.

In the drama series Kidnap and Ransom, he appeared Dai in the comedy-drama series Stella and Robert Holland, the fictional UK Foreign Secretary. In addition, he appears in the BBC police drama Line of Duty. He appeared in A Discovery of Witches, a series based on Deborah Harkness's book of the same name.
