He is best known for his role in Aik Nayee Cinderella on Geo TV, and Aunn Zara on A-Plus Entertainment, both of which are among the highest rated Pakistani serials.

Goya, which appeared on ARY Digital, and Diyar-e-Dil, the blockbuster serial that appeared on Hum TV in 2015, were among his other creations.

Butt was also praised for his role as Aunn in Aunn Zara (2013), which earned him a nomination for Best Drama Actor at Pakistan Media Awards.

Career

Butt began his acting career in 2005, appearing in theatre performances in his hometown Islamabad. In 2007 film Zibahkhana, Pakistan's first zombie horror film, he made his film debut. He wrote, performed, choreographed for, and directed his first theatre performance under the brand 'The Living Picture Productions,' which the company began around the same time. In several well-run plays in his hometown town, he began writing direct and acting. He began posting videos on YouTube in 2010 as "the living picture guy" then appeared in the film Slackistan, which was banned after the film was refused a pass by the censor board. He appeared in Aik Nayee Cinderella's romantic drama series in 2012. In Aunn Zara's first year, he appeared as Aunn. He appeared in a drama Munkir as Zain. He starred in Wali Suhaib Khan in Diyar-e-Dil in 2015. In 2016, he appeared as Harib in Sanam.

Butt is the co-founder, creative lead, and poetry editor of the Desi Writers Lounge, an online, 24/7, 365 days a year writers' conference and forum that aims to highlight new voices in South Asian writing through their biannual publication 'Papercuts.' He has written the screenplay for Siyah's 2013 critically acclaimed supernatural horror film and Janaan's 2016 commercially successful romantic comedy film. In addition, he is the script-writer for the 2017 lux style awards. He appeared in Balu's debut film as an actor, as well as Ainy Jaffri. He was the choreographer for Hareem Farooq's 2018 film "Billo Hai" as the director of choreography.
