Background and early life
Moss graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2008 and spent time reading literature. Moss is a regular guest on the IGN UK and A Life Well Wasted podcasts. His illustration work began as a hobby, but showing his work on the internet resulted in commissions and encouraged him to pursue college by inventing on Threadless' most popular T-shirt designs. He had intended to work in advertising but discovered graphic design and illustration.
Career
Craig Kyle and Kevin Feige, both from Marvel Entertainment, had Moss produce a poster for Thor's cast. His other notable creations include the cover art for the 2011 video game Resistance 3, which inspired a trailer to be made in a similar style. He also designed the covers for J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter book series, as well as a seven-part series of prints based on each book. Moss unveiled a poster in February 2013 commemorating the 85th Academy Awards, wherein eighty-five years' worth of Best Picture winners are portrayed with individual Oscar statuettes.
Moss is known for his series of posters based on the original Star Wars trilogy, as well as designing custom posters for films including Dirty Harry, The Evil Dead, RoboCop, My Neighbor Totoro, and the Star Trek episode "The Trouble with Tribbles." Using photographs from each film's coloured silhouettes of C-3PO, Boba Fett, and Darth Vader, respectively, images from Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi are depicted in the posters. The posters were first released in 2010 in a limited edition of 400 copies per person at a cost of $50 each. A complete set of the three posters was available on eBay for $7,499.99 in 2011.
Campo Santo was founded by Moss and Mark of the Ninja lead designer Nels Anderson in September 2013. Moss worked closely on the layout and was art director for the studio's first film, Firewatch. Firewatch echoes Moss' graphic style, inspired by the 1960s National Park posters' iconic look. Moss was responsible for the game's color and lighting scheme as well as all of the environment design language, and he also created several logos and graphics for the props in Firewatch.
Moss left Campo Santo in 2016 and is now with Valve. He served as an artist on Half-Life: Alyx and illustrated the Rick and Morty comic book's one-shot "One More Time" on August 23, 2017.
