Olga Tañón Career

Career

Olga Taón performed one of her own compositions at the age of 16 years old, appearing in "Buscando Estrellas" on television talent shows. The judges highly rated her. In the 1980s, her singing career flourished when she joined a group called "Las Nenas de Ringo y Jossie" (Ringo and Jossie's Girls). Soon "Chantelle," a well-known Puerto Rica group, noticed her mezzo-soprano voice and recruited her. They found what they needed for their merengue style of music in her. While Taón was a member of Chantelle, they scored their first hit, "Aunque T no Quieras" (Even If You Don't Want It). The song was extremely popular in Latin America.

Taón signed a deal with the WEA Latina record company in 1992 to record a solo album. Sola" was her first recorded album (Alone). "Me Cambio por Ella" (He replaced me with her) and "Quiereo estar contigo" (I Want To Be With You) were two of the songs on the album. "Mujer de Fuego" (Woman of Fire) was her second album for WEA Latina in 1993. Tafón appeared on "Presencié tu Amor" (I Witnessed Your Love), a piece by Francisco delving. Taón received three Lo Nuestro Awards in the Tropical/Salsa category this year: Album of the Year (Sola), Female Artist, and New Artist.

Taón earned her first double platinum record in 1994, and she continued her platinum success with her album, "Sente el Amor" (Feel the Love). "Unicorn" (Unicorn), another of Salsa's compositions, was also included on this album, as well as the unforgettable Merengue song "Es Mentiroso" (He's a Liar). Taón had acclaim and fame throughout Latin America.

"Nuevos Senderos," Taón's Mexican singer Marco Antonio Sols' album "Nuevos Senderos" on the Mexican album. She was now being heard around the world, and with that release, she became the first Puerto Rican musician to be RIAA-certified to sell over half a million albums.

The lead single, the ballad "Basta Ya!"

The United States ranked No. 1 in the United States. Billboard has been in top Latin Tracks for several weeks, becoming Taón's first No. 1. 1. Taón's album received three Lo Nuestro Awards for Pop Album of the Year, Pop Song of the Year, and Pop Singer of the Year.

In 1997, Taón debuted as an actor in the Puerto Rican version of "Jesus Christ Superstar," directed by Rafo Muiz. She appeared on Mary Magdalene. This version had a tropical feel to it, as well as some of Tain's songs. Juan González, a Puerto Rican major-league baseball player, married Taón in 1998. Gabriella Marie, the mother of their daughter, but they divorced in 1999.

"Olga Viva Viva Olga" in the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida, Tawan, now known as the "Woman of Fire" or "Mujer de Fuego" by her followers, was recorded in 2000. The National Foundation for Popular Culture selected this production as one of the year's top 20 productions. The album went platinum, and Taón earned her first Grammy Award. In August 2000, Taón sold out 12 shows in the Antonio Paoli Hall at the Luis A. Ferre Center of the Fine Arts in San Juan. She made her debut in the Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, Texas, later this month. In the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Dallas Morning News, her appearances received rave reviews. Taón performed her musical masterpiece at Panama's Anayansi Theatre and toured the southeastern United States with Mexican singer Alejandro Fernández at the end of 2000.

Taón released "Yo por Ti" (Me for You), a 2001 album that received both American and Latin Grammy awards. Como Olvidar, the first single, topped the United States charts. Billboard is a cable television network. The CD became a best-seller in Puerto Rico, Latin America, and among the Hispanic population in the United States. "Yo por Ti" is Taón's only album that is not available on any streaming platforms.

Taón visited many countries in 2002, including Venezuela, Panama, and the United States. When her relationship with Egyptian music singer Hakim resulted in the highly successful Arabian hit, Ah Ya Albi, she became the first merengue artist to achieve a top-to-top in the Middle East. Taón toured Europe and made ten recordings for WEA Latina in 2003. Sobrevivir won her fourth Grammy in 2003 and became her fourth Grammy winner. Billy Denizard, with whom she had two sons, Indiana Noa and Ian Nahir, were also married.

Taón travelled to Italy for her "Evolution Tour 2008," where she made a brief appearance at the Festival Latinoamericano on July 5, 2008. Taón released her hit song, "Una Nueva Mujer," in 2005, which received Best Contemporary Tropical Album at the 2006 Latin Grammys.

In 2006, Taóno recorded "Nuestro Himno" in alliance with Pitbull, Carlos Ponce, and Wyclef Jean, in favor of Latin American immigrants in the United States. Taón debuted in Iquitos, Spain, on May 2, 2010, a performance where she performed her best songs. The concert was part of her tour, which began in Peru.

At the 19th edition of Premio Lo Nuestro, Taón received three awards on February 22, 2007. She received awards in the categories "Album of the Year," "Female Artist" and "Song of the Year" during the 2006 show. With a total of 29 artists, she holds the record as the artist with the most "Premio Lo Nuestro Awards."

"Amor Entre Tres," Taón's latest hit single for Venezuela's new soap opera "La Vida Entera," was released in June 2009. "25 Exitos de Fuego Vol." was released by WEA Latina late last month. Vol. 1 & Vol. "2" is a contraction that means "nothing." Each CD has a string of hits from her entire career in merengue and Latin pop. In September 2009, I participated in "Concierto por la Paz" in La Habana, Cuba, next to Juanes and other internationally known artists.

"Ni Una Lagrima más" was the first of three Taon albums released on the Mia Musa label in 2011. "Una Mujer" was released in 2013, and "Olga Taony Punto" was released in 2017.
