Early life

In Connecticut, United States, where his father studied medicine, Lafur was born to Icelandic parents. When he was about four years old, his family moved to Iceland.

Personal life

Career

In 1998, Lafur graduated from The Icelandic Drama School. Since being involved with various independent theatre companies, he performed in numerous productions with the National Theatre of Iceland and Reykjavc City Theatre. He is one of the founders of Reykjavk's Vesturport Theatre.

In the series Trapped, Lafur is best known internationally for his role as Andri, the chief of police in Seysfjör, in the east of Iceland. Baltasar Kormákur, the show's creator, has said that the actor was chosen because he was not a traditional leading man. The Guardian TV critic in the United Kingdom described his appearance as "as stunning as the countryside." Lafsson himself has claimed that the character was based on his own father.

In the music video for Winter Sound by the Icelandic band Of Monsters and Men in June 2016, lavafur lip synced.

In 2019, the actor appeared in AMC's series based on Joe Hill's NOS4A2 as Bing Partridge.
