Yo Oizumi Career

Early life and career beginnings

Oizumi was born in Ebetsu, Hokkaid, at the Ebetsu City Hospital. Since 1984, he has been living in Sapporo. He failed his entrance exams and did nothing more than "play around" after graduating from Sapporo Moiwa High School.

In 1994, after failing his entrance exams for two years in a row, he joined Hokkai Gakuen University to study business. Oizumi did not want to attend the university, and his mother was afraid that "he might die." However, realizing that he cannot let himself rot away, he joined the university's theater club. Hiroyuki Morisaki, Ken Yasuda, Shigeyuki Totsugi, Takuma Oto'o, founded TEAM NACS with his colleagues in 1996. After Morisaki and Yasuda's graduation, the company was disbanded, but it was revived after the two professionals resigned from their positions to rejoin again.

Oizumi joined the Inada Troupe, which Hiroshi Inada initiated in 1995, and was a participant until 2004. Inada taught him "how to stand on the stage," Oizumi said.

On the late-night program Mosaic nights, Oizumi was still attending university in October 1995. He debuted as an entertainer by portraying 2nd generation Genki-kun. He was chosen after the program staff were searching for Mamoru Tanaka, the original Genki-kun, and Oizumi was introduced to the director by Ito Ayumi, the wife of Takayuki Suzui Suzui. After this, Oizumi joined the entertainment company Creative Office Cue.

In a Hokkaid-based TV variety series called How do you like Wednesday? Since being a part of various media companies in Hokkaid, he has been active on several media outlets. During spring and summer 2005, TEAM-NACS hosted their first national tour, and their 11th original play COMPOSER was released. They completed their 12th tour HONOR in Tokyo, Osaka and Sapporo, from March to May 2007.
